About the Role

We are seeking a highly connected Business Development professional with deep roots in the construction industry to drive American Global’s continued growth in the Hudson Valley region. The ideal candidate brings a strong reputation and established network of contractors, developers, industry executives, and other key relationships.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the construction landscape, knows the key players, and can turn trusted relationships into meaningful business opportunities. Industry knowledge, credibility, and an established network are most important.

The position may be structured at the mid-level, senior, AVP, or VP level based on experience and track record of success.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leverage an established construction industry network to identify, cultivate, and develop new business opportunities.

  • Build and deepen relationships with prospective and existing clients, contractors, developers, construction executives, project owners, and other key decision makers and centers of influence.

  • Remain actively engaged with clients after new business is secured, helping strengthen and expand relationships, identify additional opportunities, and support long-term client retention in partnership with the account team.

  • Serve as a visible and credible representative of American Global at industry conferences, associations, networking events, sponsorships, and speaking opportunities.

  • Partner with American Global’s insurance, surety, risk management, and specialty teams to connect prospective clients with solutions that support their business needs.

  • Effectively communicate American Global’s capabilities, construction expertise, and competitive differentiators to prospects and industry partners.

  • Stay current on construction industry trends, market activity, key projects, competitors, and emerging opportunities to support business development strategy.

  • Collaborate with internal teams on prospect strategy, presentations, proposals, RFPs, and other client development initiatives.

  • Maintain business development activity and pipeline information within Dynamics CRM, while supporting broader growth initiatives and strategic projects as needed.

Skills & Experience That Lead to Success: 

  • Established network and strong reputation within the construction community, including relationships with senior-level decisionmakers. 

  • Proven success in business development, sales, relationship management, or another externally facing construction industry role. 

  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and how contractors and related organizations operate and grow. 

  • Strong executive presence with excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and follow-through skills.

  • Entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and work alongside technical insurance and surety professionals.

  • Curiosity and willingness to develop knowledge of insurance, surety, risk management, and American Global’s broader capabilities.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required 

  • Ability to travel as required
