Help turn business strategy into the capabilities, processes, and solutions that move Hastings Insurance forward.

Hastings Insurance is seeking a Business Architect to help translate organizational strategy into practical, scalable business solutions. In this role, you'll work across the organization to understand how our business operates today, identify opportunities for improvement, and design business models and frameworks that support where we're headed.

Partnering with stakeholders across business and technology teams, you'll help connect strategic priorities to execution while strengthening efficiency, scalability, adaptability, and innovation.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop and maintain business architecture frameworks, principles, models, and standards that guide enterprise initiatives and support our strategic direction.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to align business architecture with short- and long-term organizational goals.
  • Analyze, model, and optimize business processes using tools and methodologies such as BPMN to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, scalability, and adaptability.
  • Design business capability models and architectural solutions that connect organizational strategy with operational needs.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable business models and frameworks that support effective execution.
  • Facilitate collaboration across business and technology teams to align operational needs, technology solutions, and strategic priorities.
  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of business models and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of new business architectures, including facilitating training and supporting teams through organizational change.
  • Identify potential business and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies that support business continuity.
  • Maintain current knowledge of business architecture practices, methodologies, and industry developments through continuing education and professional development.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Five to seven years of experience within the insurance industry, including strong knowledge of property and casualty insurance products, customers, and business processes.
  • Five or more years of experience in business planning, process analysis, business architecture, or enterprise architecture.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, and analytical thinking with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with business architecture frameworks and the ability to develop clear, actionable business models and architectural documentation.
  • Knowledge of process mapping, business process reengineering, and related methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of software development and project management lifecycles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and organizational levels.
  • Clear, concise, and tactful communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, stakeholders, and peers.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, changing priorities, and deadline-driven
  • environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF, CBA, or PCBA are preferred.
Location & Schedule:

This full-time, salaried position will generally work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role may be performed onsite at our Hastings, Michigan headquarters or in a hybrid arrangement. We will also consider remote candidates who reside in one of our operating states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin.
