Full Job Description
Niyam is seeking a Business Analyst to lead and facilitate the initiative to load manual test cases into Xray and map them to automated test cases for approximately 100 enterprise applications. The analyst will train, guide, and coordinate manual testers and application development teams. This is not a hands-on role that personally converts the full inventory. The position is hybrid, on site 3-4 days per week.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate the inventory, normalization, and load of approximately 5,000 to 10,000 manual test cases into Xray.
- Map those manual test cases to approximately 40,000 to 50,000 automated test cases for about 100 enterprise applications being added to Xray.
- Work from manual cases in mixed forms and states of documentation, including Word, Excel, handwritten notes, and other formats, and set the minimum content required before a case can be loaded.
- Use automated-test data sheets as the source record for automation coverage. Most automation is Selenium, with Playwright being added. BDD cases written in Cucumber will be managed in Git and integrated to Xray.
- Train, lead, and guide manual testers and application development teams. The analyst facilitates and governs the work and does not perform the load or mapping alone.
- Set ownership, intake, and review cadence with each application team so coverage stays current as applications change.
- Track progress and report status weekly, including applications onboarded, cases loaded, cases mapped, blockers, documentation gaps, and remaining backlog.
- Creates, develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for loading and ongoing maintenance of test cases. This is a continuous process, not a one-time conversion, so cases do not become outdated or obsolete.
- Draft standard operating procedures for how Xray operates inside the SDLC and the change-request process, including when tests must be created, updated, mapped, or retired as part of a change.
- Define traceability rules among manual cases, automated cases, requirements or user stories, and defects, including how Git-managed Cucumber assets stay linked to Xray.
- Identify duplicate, obsolete, incomplete, and conflicting test cases and facilitate disposition with the owning team.
- Set repository conventions for naming, folder structure, test sets, and test-data handling so teams load and maintain cases the same way.
- Responds to inquiries and provides advice to the client regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs.
- Negotiates plans and timeframes, ensuring that clients understand the anticipated result.
- Produces reports, timelines, and graphics to communicate expectations and progress to management, customers, investors, and other relevant parties.
- Maintains and ensures proper documentation and coordinates or performs testing of system modifications.
- Collaborates with the Project Manager to ensure the needs of the client have been met.
- Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of system difficulties.
- Satisfies data sampling, project analysis, testing verification, and other user requests from existing client databases.
Requirements:
- US Citizen with ability to successfully complete federal background investigation.
- Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience as a business analyst, test analyst, or in a comparable facilitation role across an enterprise application portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional work without direct authority over the people doing the work.
- Experience with a test management repository.
- Working knowledge of manual test-case design and of automated testing concepts in Selenium, Playwright, and BDD/Cucumber.
- Experience writing standard operating procedures and fitting a tool into an SDLC and change-control process.
- Strong status reporting, backlog management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to turn inconsistent source documentation into a standard repository structure and to hold teams to that standard.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
- Extremely organized with great attention to detail.
- Excellent management skills with the ability to lead, facilitate, motivate, and organize.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems.
- Ability to negotiate and settle differences quickly and peacefully.
- Ability to act as a team player.
