Duties & Responsibilities
• The Budget and Planning Systems Consultant is experienced in designing and implementing Oracle Hyperion Planning and Essbase solutions.
• This role is a key contributor on the budget and planning team that supports, enhances and delivers budgeting and planning applications at Harvard University.
• These applications provide a University-wide platform for many key financial planning and analysis activities including operational budgeting and forecasting, interim reporting, long range planning, tuition/enrollment/financial aid planning, internal cash flow reporting, and capital planning.
• The Budget and Planning Systems Consultant will build strong relationships with the budget and planning systems stakeholders and will become well-versed in financial planning and analysis processes at Harvard in order to identify opportunities for technology solutions that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes.
• He/she will design and implement new applications, develop new functionality for existing applications based on business needs and requirements, update existing functionality to reflect changes in business processes, and identify opportunities for integrating Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications with Harvard's other financial systems and its business intelligence platform.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Designs and develops complex data models, reporting hierarchies, business rules, data forms, and reports for Hyperion Planning / Essbase applications
• Partners with key stakeholders to analyze business process and technology needs
• Performs fit/gap analysis and conducts research to make objective recommendations for IT solutions that effectively capture and automate key business processes
• Drafts systems specifications detailing the logic, configuration and security requirements to be implemented
• Participates in appropriate QA activities to test system functionality and validate new products, enhancements, bug fixes, and patches
• Serves as an escalation point for Tier III support issues and root cause analysis
• Participates in team-wide practices to maximize team collaboration and delivery of value to stakeholders
• Personally invests in applicable training and professional development efforts to ensure continuous learning and growth
• Manages multiple high priority initiatives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment
Basic Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in related field (e.g. management information science, computer science or finance) or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in a business systems analysis or similar information technology role.
• t least 3 years of experience implementing solutions in Hyperion Planning and/or Essbase (or a similar budget and planning platform).
• Understanding of finance and accounting concepts. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Additional Qualifications
• Hyperion Planning and Essbase application design, Hyperion business rules and calc scripts, report development with Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio, Smart View (or Essbase) add-in, and Essbase Administration Services (EAS) experience required.
• Familiarity with relational databases, data-warehousing concepts, and enterprise business intelligence platforms such as OBIEE, strongly preferred.
• Experience with Harvard's ERP systems (Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft HCM) is desirable.
• Proven ability to quickly assimilate new technology and/or applications required.
• Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility and the ability to get up to speed quickly with the technologies and applications we support.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal, organization, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
• Must have proven ability to initiate and manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
• ble to work independently and within small and large teams. Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies preferred.
• dvanced desktop application skills including Excel, Word, MS Project, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio required.
