Full Job Description
General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled BizAI Tech Functional Engineer to join our Enterprise AI Engineering organization. This role sits at the intersection of business process, AI, and enterprise engineering, translating Finance, Sales, and broader SG&A needs into intelligent, governed, production-grade solutions on BizAI - Qualcomm's Unified Business AI platform. You will pair deep technical skill with strong functional fluency, partnering directly with business stakeholders to turn process pain points into agentic applications, natural-language analytics, and automated workflows - all on governed enterprise data (Databricks, Oracle, EDH) and within Qualcomm's security and governance boundaries.

This role requires full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA (5 days per week).

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical-functional bridge between business stakeholders (Finance, Sales, SCM) and the AI engineering team - eliciting requirements, shaping use cases, and translating them into deliverable solutions on the BizAI platform.
  • Design and deliver AI-driven agents, natural-language Q&A experiences, and agentic automations for enterprise processes such as Manual Journal Entry, Incentive Claims validation, Variance Analysis, and Customer 360.
  • Build and extend workflow automations using n8n (on-prem Kubernetes), integrating with Oracle, Databricks, Salesforce, M365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint), Jira, and PostgreSQL.
  • Develop and integrate against the FastAPI and micro-frontend SDK, ensuring consistent, reusable, enterprise-grade experiences.
  • Configure and tune Databricks Genie / QGenie-powered natural-language querying over governed datasets, validating accuracy and business relevance with stakeholders.
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise governance, SOX, auditability, SSO/RBAC (OIDC), and data-level security (RLS/N2K) requirements.
  • Define and apply automation and agent standards for scalability, reliability, and compliance across the enterprise.
  • Support adoption through office hours, enablement, and hands-on guidance - helping business teams self-serve while raising the engineering bar.
  • Collaborate on process optimization and process-mining opportunities to prioritize the highest-value automation and AI use cases.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 9+ years of experience in software/automation engineering, solutions engineering, or technical-functional roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business/functional requirements into technical solutions, ideally in Finance or Sales domains.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI / AI agent development and natural-language analytics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript (Rust a plus); experience with full-stack, enterprise-grade application development.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic runtimes and workflow frameworks such as n8n, LangGraph, or Agno.
  • Experience building against API services (e.g., FastAPI) and integrating with data platforms (Databricks, Oracle, SQL/NoSQL).
  • Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise systems, authentication mechanisms (SSO/OIDC), role-based access, and security best practices.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Functional domain knowledge in Finance, Sales, Supply chain processes.
  • Experience with natural-language-to-SQL / Genie-style querying over governed datasets.
  • Background in business process optimization and process mining.
  • Experience integrating and extending RPA platforms (e.g., Automation Anywhere, UiPath) into agentic frameworks.
  • Prior experience in a matrixed, global organization with distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration, event-driven architectures, and microservices/micro-frontends.
  • Exposure to AI platform engineering and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.


Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$134,800.00 - $202,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
