Full Job Description
Responsible for technical service (e.g., inspection, maintenance and repair), support and records management of a wide variety of medical equipment and systems including but not limited to specialty care, surgery, respiratory, cardiology, physical therapy, telemetry and general patient care equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
License /Certification
Preferred: Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) from AAMI or similar certification.
Education
Preferred: Graduate of an electronics training program, i.e. trade school certificate; or Associate's degree in Electronics.
Experience
Required: Two years experience in electronics and mechanical troubleshooting.
Preferred: Two years experience in electronic and mechanical troubleshooting in medical equipment service. Military experience in electronics or biomedical maintenance.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Competently operate test equipment associated with the medical equipment service industry.
Ability to communicate about medical systems in order to resolve equipment technical difficulties effectively with physicians, nurses, manufacturers and other support specialists.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Manages time and prioritizes effectively.
Communicates with coworkers, vendors, peers and management to ensure safe, effective, timely and cost effective service results.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Performs preventive maintenance and repair service required to maintain medical equipment contained in the Kaweah Health’s medical equipment management inventory.
Tests all new incoming medical device equipment to ensure device meets the manufacturer's specifications, hospital, and state and other regulations. Advises patient and Nurse Manager of testing outcomes. Documents findings in a timely manner.
Orders spare and replacement parts as necessary to minimize downtime.
Performs environmental safety inspections, outlet testing and other rounding activities on a scheduled basis.
Maintains accurate and complete documentation for of all services provided.
Provides on-call service and support coverage for all Kaweah Health campuses for the repair and support of all medical devices and systems when requested by the Director of Clinical Engineering.
Provides in-service structured education and training to Clinical, Technical, and Nursing staff on the proper use of Medical Devices contained in the Medical Equipment Management Program where qualified, on an "as-needed" basis.
Assists Clinical Engineering management in researching areas for cost reduction and service improvements for all areas of the Medical Equipment Management Program including but not limited to: Service Agreements, Replacement Parts, and New Equipment Purchases.
Provides consultation and impromptu in-service to clinicians regarding general care of medical systems.
Assists with training and acts as a technical resource for team members.
Increases knowledge, and identifies and implements (as appropriate) process improvements (both personal and program related) that add value by improving safety, quality, savings, efficiency and the work environment.
Additional
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$31.38 -$47.07
