Day in the Life

As a Biology Project Manager, you'll lead diverse biological resources projects throughout Southern California. One day you may be guiding habitat restoration planning and coordinating with regulatory agencies; the next you'll be partnering with clients, preparing technical reports, managing project teams, and supporting business development efforts. The Biology Project Manager role offers the perfect blend of project leadership, client engagement, strategic planning, and occasional field involvement. You'll play a key role in expanding HELIX's restoration and biology presence throughout the Los Angeles region.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a Biology Project Manager for biological resources and habitat restoration projects.
  • Lead regulatory permitting efforts and agency consultation.
  • Prepare and oversee biological technical reports and restoration plans.
  • Manage environmental review support and biological resources analysis.
  • Build and maintain strong client and agency relationships.
  • Coordinate project teams, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals and support business development activities.
  • Develop creative solutions to complex project challenges.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Occasionally conduct biological fieldwork as needed.

Salary will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $91,000 to $115,000.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental consulting experience in biological resources or similar projects.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience with direct client and agency interaction.
  • Experience with proposal preparation and business development.
  • Experience managing biological technical reports and CEQA-related documents throughout Southern California.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in biology, natural resources, or related field.
  • Strong existing agency and client relationships.
  • Experience with regulatory permitting involving USACE, CDFW, and RWQCB.
  • Recognition as an approved or certified biological consultant with local agencies.
  • Experience leading major proposal efforts and client interviews.


Salary Description

Range of $91,000 to $115,000
