Full Job Description
Your Role

Based in our Rockville, MD facility, the Bioinformatician I designs, develops, and deploys scalable data analysis pipelines to support our expanding genomics and next-generation sequencing (NGS) services in product biosafety and pharmacogenomics. Working closely with cross-functional teams, management, and end-users, you will transform user requirements into robust computational solutions while helping advance NGS applications in biosafety testing. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build, and troubleshoot bioinformatics pipelines, algorithms, and data analysis strategies for genomics services under the direction of the technical lead
  • Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, verify results alongside Study Management, and maintain detailed documentation for study integrity and peer review
  • Proactively update Management, Study Directors, and interdepartmental teams on project progress, timelines, and technical bottlenecks
  • Draft SOPs, manage change control for validated systems, and explore new technologies to optimize protocols while adhering to safety standards


Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years in information technologies, computational sciences/programming, bioinformatics, or other scientific discipline

OR
  • Master's degree with 1+ years of experience in information technologies, computational sciences/ programming, bioinformatics, or other scientific discipline

OR
  • Ph.D. in information technologies, computational sciences/ programming, bioinformatics, or other scientific discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in Linux/UNIX environments, relevant coding languages (e.g., Python, Perl, shell scripting), version control (Git), and software testing frameworks
  • Hands-on experience analyzing high-throughput NGS/genomics data using command-line tools, workflow automation (e.g., Galaxy, cloud services), and cluster resource managers (e.g., Torque/Maui)
  • Background in wet lab techniques (PCR, qPCR, Sanger/NGS sequencing) and familiarity with GLP/GMP regulations, safety standards, and document control
  • Proven ability to draft technical software documentation, SOPs, and user requirement specifications while performing peer reviews and quality audits
  • Excellent technical writing, cross-functional communication, and project management skills to lead multiple complex initiatives independently with minimal supervision


RSREMD

Salary Range for this position - $88,300 - $132,500 annually

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
