Job Description
You decide what a worried parent and a busy clinician see when they submit a health safety report, in both English and Spanish. Most events of this kind are never reported, and friction is a main reason. You own the research, the design and every word, and Spanish is a full product, not a translation. Full time, W-2, hybrid from Fairfax, Virginia, starting October 2026.
What you will do- Plan and run discovery and usability research with agency stakeholders, members of the public and clinicians, within Paperwork Reduction Act limits.
- Produce user flows, wireframes and clickable prototypes for agency review.
- Redesign the landing page and navigation around the tasks visitors come to complete.
- Write every user-visible string in plain language, in both English and Spanish, to federal plain-writing standards.
- Own English/Spanish task parity across the form, surveys, landing page and navigation. No string ships without its Spanish value.
- Design the customer satisfaction surveys and prepare them for federal clearance review.
- Define, with the Program Manager, how completion and abandonment are measured.
- Write the public and healthcare-provider user guides.
- Run the Spanish screen-reader pass with the QA and Accessibility Specialist, and coordinate independent Spanish linguistic review.
- Keep FAQ content current and support FAQ usage reporting.
What you need- Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, design, communications, public health or a related field and 6 years of UX design or content design experience; 10 years of experience may substitute for the degree.
- Native or near-native professional fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English. Both are tested at interview.
- A portfolio showing research, flows, wireframes and shipped forms or transactional services.
- Usability testing you planned, ran and turned into design changes.
- Plain-language writing samples in both languages.
- Experience in at least one of: healthcare informatics, public health surveillance systems, healthcare data management, or healthcare-related IT.
- Ability to obtain and keep a federal Public Trust determination.
What sets a candidate apart- Health, public health or government service design, including work with clinicians.
- U.S. Web Design System and Figma.
- Experience with the Paperwork Reduction Act or OMB customer-experience clearances.
- Accessible design practice, including screen-reader testing in Spanish.
- Knowledge of federal language access requirements.
BenefitsPay is discussed with you directly when we speak. These are the benefits every full-time SPN employee receives.
- Medical and prescription coverage, dental and vision
- Short-term disability
- Life and accidental death insurance
- Competitive 401(k)
- 11 paid federal holidays
- Paid vacation
- Paid sick leave
- Parental leave
- Tuition and professional development assistance
Terms, and how to apply- Full time, W-2, salaried (exempt), employed by SPN Solutions
