Responsibilities

  • Support the command's lead planner for USCENTCOM AOR contingency plans development
  • Participate in planning conferences and conduct MARCENT staff reviews of planning products
  • Draft MARCENT responses for approval to ensure proper deployment of Marine forces
  • Support development of Component supporting plans to Operation Plans (OPLANs) and Concept Plans (CONPLANs)
  • Provide contingency planning support for joint, bi-lateral, and multi-lateral plans
  • Attend and contribute to planning conferences and working groups; provide In-Progress Reviews (IPRs) to leadership
  • Develop assessments, briefs, information papers, and support campaign plan development

Job Summary

Serve as a senior planner supporting the MARCENT Plans and Policy Directorate (G-5), leading bi-lateral and multi-lateral contingency plan development for the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Specific Responsibilities
  • Support the command's lead planner for USCENTCOM AOR bi-lateral and multi-lateral contingency plans development
  • Participate in USCENTCOM bi-lateral/multilateral planning conferences and conduct MARCENT staff reviews of USCENTCOM planning products
  • Draft MARCENT responses to USCENTCOM for approval, ensuring proper deployment and employment of Marine forces
  • Support development of Component supporting plans to Combatant Command Operation Plans (OPLANs) and Concept Plans (CONPLANs)
  • Provide contingency planning support for joint, bi-lateral, and multi-lateral plans, including compartmented plans
  • Attend joint, bi-lateral, multilateral, and coalition planning conferences/working groups; provide In-Progress Reviews (IPRs) to MARCENT leadership
  • Develop assessments, briefs, information papers, and automated messages; support strategic, policy, campaign, and posture plan development
  • Support internal MARCENT working groups and attend CENTCOM Battle Rhythm events (e.g., Joint Planning Group, Joint Planning Board, Modeling and Simulation Working Group)


Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant operational planning experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's degree preferred)
  • Expert-level experience in lead planning at the Combatant Command or Component Command level
  • Working understanding of complex interrelationships between Middle Eastern states, religions, and ethnic groups, regional US Embassies, SDO/DATT, and USLO structures
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Strong written and briefing skills

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Work is generally performed in a standard office environment at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. Must be able to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

Travel
  • Travel required to support USCENTCOM bi-lateral/multilateral planning conferences and Battle Rhythm events.
