Full Job Description
The BG Commodity Manager US plays a key role in shaping the Semiconductor Business Group's commodity strategy. This includes managing the global supplier panel, deploying best in class commodity tools and practices, and securing budget targets. The position also manages our key US suppliers across all FCE Electronics commodities, leading global negotiations, steering innovation and development initiatives, and driving localization opportunities in NAO. The Main Missions of the role are: • Responsible for Strategy / Panel o Carry out global scouting and supplier integration activities. o Define supplier convergence roadmap according to global and regional commodity strategy. o Ensure the deployment of Commodity strategy in Programs. o Accountable for management of global suppliers including risk management, propose supplier panel status accordingly. o Identify innovation capabilities of global suppliers and product/techno innovation. o Decide to launch new supplier integration activities accordingly. o Foster innovation to identify breakthrough solutions from suppliers. • Supplier Account Manager Role o Manage directly strategic suppliers' relationships by negotiating and implementing frame contracts. o Define the SRM strategy and objectives (mid and long term) for the Commodity at global and regional level. o Intervene in major supplier issues (quality, logistic) escalated by serial buyers or program buyers (escalation, threshold to be defined) o Manage insolvencies of suppliers and steer corrective action plan. • Budget o Consolidate budget and SP inputs from Regional managers and challenge them. o Propose commodity performance for each Division. o Converge with Purchasing Division Director to align commodity's performance with Division purchasing budget. o Analyze performance for their Commodity (global and regional scope). o Accountable for implementing budget, Cost savings, cash improvement, Quality and Delivery. o Ensure consistency between Commodity strategy and costing. • Sourcing support / Decision o Validate Supplier Selection along with the BG Program Purchasing Director. o Contribute to Sourcing Nomination Committees for strategic programs. o Ensure the deployment of the BG or Group commodity strategy. • VAVE o Support performance of purchasing productivity projects, join external productivity workshops at suppliers, push execution of identified actions if required. o Drive the VAVE idea generation and foster their analysis and application. • Functional Team Reporting Management o Lead and manage a functional reporting team consisting of commodity managers and buyers. Qualifications: Minimum education level • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or business. • Nice to have: Professional Purchasing Qualification. Experience: • Minimum 8 years' experience in Purchasing in an industrial environment, including a commodity buyer experience. • Nice to have: Proven experience in a management role / Automotive and Electronic background Skills & Competencies: Hard Skills & Tools: • Deep understanding of business practices, market dynamics and trends. • Knowledge of Purchasing contractual and legal aspects. • Ability to formalize a global commodity strategy. • Financial Skills. • Knowledge of assigned commodity (products, technologies, cost models). Soft Skills: • International minded. • Ability to work in a matrix organization. • Results oriented. • Strong business understanding, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills. • Capacity to influence. • Fluent in English, another language depending on the region.
