Patrick Industries is seeking a Benefits Manager to lead Patrick's efforts to attract, retain, and engage top talent through the delivery of a competitive, cost-effective health, wellness and retirement benefit program that supports our Team Members throughout every stage of their careers. As a trusted advisor to leadership, the Benefits Manager will ensure regulatory compliance, excellence in communication, and a positive Team Member experience through the consistent administration and delivery of the Company's full suite of benefit offerings. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, external vendors, and business unit leadership to ensure benefit programs support Patrick Industries' ability to attract and retain talented Team Members.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Manage the day-to-day Team Member benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefit offerings.
Lead the benefits department for a multi-site, multi-state workforce and partner with HR teams across multiple business units to ensure a positive Team Member experience.
Serve as a subject matter expert on benefits-related matters and provide guidance to HR leadership and business partners.
Manage strategic relationships with benefit brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, retirement plan providers, and other benefit vendors.
Drive the organization's ongoing benefit integration activities related to acquisitions, business unit transitions, and organizational changes.
Monitor industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices impacting benefits programs and educate senior leaders on these trends.
Analyze annual benefit plan renewals and participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of benefit programs and vendors.
Oversee annual open enrollment activities, including planning, communications, Team Member education, system configuration, and vendor coordination.
Develop Team Member communications, training materials, and educational resources to improve benefit awareness and understanding.
Analyze benefits utilization, participation trends, market data, and program costs to identify opportunities for improvement.
Oversee the administration of retirement plans, including 401(k) programs, eligibility, compliance requirements, audits, and participant communications.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing employee benefits, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and applicable retirement plan requirements.
Prepare, review, and maintain required benefit-related reporting, audits, filings, and documentation.
Ensure benefit plan documentation, policies, procedures, and summary plan descriptions are current/within compliance standards.
Build, lead, and develop a team of benefit professionals delivering exceptional service, operational excellence, and a positive Team Member experience.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
7+ years of progressive benefits administration, benefits management, or total rewards experience.
Strong knowledge of benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement programs, disability plans, and leave administration.
Experience administering benefits across a multi-state and multi-site organization.
Strong understanding of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable benefits regulations.
Experience working with benefits carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and retirement plan providers.
Experience supporting open enrollment, plan renewals, compliance reporting, and
communications.
Working knowledge of payroll processes as they relate to benefits administration.
Leadership experience in managing and developing Team Members.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
