Pay: $45.00/hr.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Position Overview: In this role, you will provide behavioral health and mental health services to residents within the detention facility while supporting emotional wellness, crisis intervention, counseling services, and treatment planning activities. You will work closely with medical providers, nursing staff, behavioral health personnel, and detention staff to assess, monitor, and address resident mental health needs in accordance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, and healthcare regulations. This position requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a secure detention healthcare environment while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct behavioral health evaluations, mental health assessments, crisis intervention activities, and clinical screenings for residents presenting with behavioral or emotional concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, counseling services, and behavioral health support strategies based on resident needs and clinical findings.
  • Provide individual counseling, crisis stabilization support, suicide prevention monitoring, and behavioral health interventions within the detention facility.
  • Monitor resident mental health conditions and document behavioral observations, treatment progress, and clinical recommendations accurately and thoroughly.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nursing personnel, medical staff, detention officers, transportation personnel, and outside healthcare providers to support continuity of care.
  • Respond to behavioral health emergencies, psychiatric crises, self-harm concerns, or resident wellness incidents using approved clinical procedures and intervention techniques.
  • Maintain accurate behavioral health documentation, treatment records, case notes, and operational reports in compliance with HIPAA requirements and facility standards.
  • Participate in intake screenings, behavioral health assessments, case reviews, and multidisciplinary treatment planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with government detention standards, behavioral health regulations, clinical protocols, and facility operational procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, effective communication, and sound clinical judgment while supporting resident behavioral health and wellness services in a secure detention environment.


Qualifications:
  • Must possess a master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Must possess an Arizona license in one of the following categories: Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors/Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor/Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPC/LPCC/LCPC/LMHC/LCMHC) or equivalent. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) are not acceptable.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of full-time, post-master's experience practicing as a fully, independently licensed mental health provider.
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of professional clinical experience working directly within one of the following highly structured or relevant environments:
    • Adult or juvenile detention centers, jails, or state/federal correctional facilities.
    • Inpatient psychiatric hospitals, state hospitals, or secure crisis stabilization units.
    • Forensic mental health settings or court-ordered diversion programs.
    • Emergency room (ER) psychiatric triage or mobile crisis response teams.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also be required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
