Position Description

The Director of Talent Acquisition provides strategic leadership and direction for the organization's Talent Acquisition function, ensuring talent strategies align with business objectives, workforce requirements, and long-term organizational goals. They will establish the overall vision, strategy, governance, and priorities for Talent Acquisition while advising executive and business leadership on workforce planning, talent market trends, critical talent needs, and talent attraction strategies. The Director leads the development of a sustainable talent strategy and organizational capability while ensuring the Talent Acquisition function delivers effective, consistent, and fit-for-purpose solutions to meet current and future workforce needs.

Responsibilities
  • Sets the overall talent acquisition strategy and direction in alignment with organizational objectives and long-term workforce needs.
  • Advises executive leadership on talent market trends, workforce availability, critical talent needs, and recruitment strategy.
  • Establishes the vision, priorities, standards, and operating model for the Talent Acquisition function.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Talent Acquisition Manager, ensuring recruiting activities support established strategic priorities and business needs.
  • Collaborates with senior business leaders and HR leadership to anticipate future workforce requirements and develop long-term talent strategies.
  • Oversees workforce planning and the development of strategic talent pipelines for critical, specialized, and leadership positions.
  • Determines appropriate recruitment approaches for executive, highly specialized, or business-critical positions.
  • Establishes relationships and strategic partnerships with external recruiting firms, universities, professional organizations, and other key talent sources.
  • Provides strategic direction for the organization's employer brand and talent attraction strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Partners with Human Resources leadership to support succession planning and the development of talent pipelines for critical organizational roles.
  • Establishes Talent Acquisition policies, standards, governance, and performance expectations to promote consistency across the organization.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the Talent Acquisition function through workforce analytics, recruiting metrics, market intelligence, and business outcomes.
  • Reviews recruitment trends and performance data to identify strategic opportunities, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
  • Provides recommendations to executive leadership regarding recruiting investments, technology, resources, and organizational capabilities.
  • Sponsors enterprise-level Talent Acquisition initiatives involving process improvement, technology, employer branding, workforce planning, and organizational growth.
  • Oversees the Talent Acquisition budget and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Ensures the Talent Acquisition function operates in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Represents the organization with key external stakeholders and professional networks to strengthen its reputation and long-term talent pipeline.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provides strategic direction for enterprise workforce planning initiatives to identify future talent requirements and organizational capability needs.


Qualifications

Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition or Human Resources, including responsibility for talent acquisition strategy, workforce planning, and organizational talent initiatives.
  • At least five (5) years of leadership experience overseeing Talent Acquisition teams, programs, or functions.
  • Experience advising senior and executive leaders on talent acquisition, workforce planning, and talent strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement enterprise-level Talent Acquisition strategies and programs that align with organizational goals and support long-term workforce planning.
  • Experience with workforce planning, talent pipeline development, employer branding, recruiting analytics, and talent market analysis.
  • Strong understanding of Talent Acquisition technology, recruiting systems, data analytics, and current recruiting practices.
  • Ability to assess workforce needs and develop talent strategies to address organizational priorities.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of how workforce strategies support organizational performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, influencing, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, change management, and problem solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendors, and external strategic partnerships.
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations, and recruiting compliance requirements.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential organizational, employee, and candidate information.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required, Master's degree preferred
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or another relevant Talent Acquisition or Human Resources certification preferred
