Ballistic Missile Systems Analyst

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a Junior Ballistic Missile Systems Analyst to support technical intelligence analysis of foreign ballistic missile systems, development programs, testing, capabilities, and operational activities.

The analyst will research and evaluate foreign ballistic missile systems and integrate information from multiple intelligence sources to develop accurate, well-supported analytical products. The position is designed for an early-career intelligence professional with an interest in missile technology, aerospace systems, foreign military capabilities, and national security.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced analysts and subject-matter experts while developing specialized expertise in ballistic missile systems and intelligence tradecraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis of foreign ballistic missile systems, including propulsion, guidance and navigation, flight characteristics, payloads, launch systems, and supporting infrastructure.
• Monitor and assess foreign ballistic missile development, testing, modernization, production, deployment, and operational activities.
• Analyze missile system components and technical characteristics to support assessments of foreign capabilities.
• Integrate information from multiple intelligence disciplines and publicly available sources into technical assessments.
• Evaluate technical reporting and intelligence-derived information for relevance, reliability, and analytical significance.
• Identify trends, technological developments, capability improvements, and changes in foreign ballistic missile programs.
• Assess ballistic missile testing and development activities and their implications for foreign military capabilities.
• Develop and maintain missile system profiles, technical reference materials, analytical databases, and other intelligence resources.
• Prepare intelligence reports, technical assessments, briefings, graphics, and other analytical products.
• Collaborate with SIGINT, FISINT, GEOINT, MASINT, OSINT, and all-source analysts.
• Support the identification of intelligence gaps and development of collection requirements.
• Apply structured analytic techniques and established intelligence tradecraft.
• Brief analytical findings to government customers, senior analysts, and program leadership as required.
• Maintain awareness of relevant foreign missile developments, emerging technologies, and changes in strategic and tactical missile capabilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in intelligence analysis, technical intelligence, weapons systems analysis, missile analysis, aerospace systems, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in intelligence studies, engineering, aerospace, physics, international security, military studies, or a related discipline.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
• Foundational understanding of ballistic missile systems and/or aerospace technologies.
• Ability to research, evaluate, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce clear and concise intelligence reports, assessments, briefings, or similar analytical products.
• Ability to distinguish factual reporting from analytical judgment and clearly communicate levels of confidence and uncertainty.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies across technical information.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary intelligence team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience analyzing ballistic missiles, intermediate-range or intercontinental ballistic missile systems, short-range ballistic missiles, or related missile technologies.
• Experience within the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, military, defense industry, or national-security environment.
• Familiarity with SIGINT, FISINT, MASINT, GEOINT, or all-source intelligence.
• Understanding of missile propulsion, guidance and navigation, aerodynamics, reentry systems, flight testing, telemetry, or launch systems.
• Experience assessing missile tests, launch events, development programs, or production activities.
• Experience working with intelligence databases, analytical tools, geospatial platforms, or technical research tools.
• Graduate-level education or additional technical training.
• Experience producing technical intelligence assessments or system-level weapons profiles.
• Military or professional experience involving foreign missile systems.

Target Salary Range$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
