Job Summary
The AWS Tech Lead will lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of cloud-native software solutions. The role focuses on building and optimizing batch and real-time workloads on AWS, designing scalable microservices and data pipelines, and evaluating systems against the AWS Well-Architected Framework, particularly the Operational Excellence pillar. The Tech Lead will oversee technical architecture, infrastructure automation, CI/CD implementation, application reliability, and engineering best practices while mentoring developers and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead technical planning and delivery for features, proofs of concept, complex systems, and cross-functional engineering projects.
• Own the end-to-end design, operation, and continuous improvement of data pipelines using AWS Glue, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and related services.
• Define reusable ingestion, transformation, storage, and delivery patterns for batch and near-real-time workloads.
• Provision and manage AWS resources using Terraform and other infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Monitor pipeline health, investigate failures, resolve data quality issues, and improve logging and alerting.
• Develop and maintain scalable automation and ETL jobs, emphasizing performance, maintainability, and data quality.
• Deploy new and existing applications to AWS environments and support cloud migration through reliable, repeatable release practices.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate build, testing, security validation, and deployment processes.
• Design and develop test automation frameworks for unit testing and smoke testing applications.
• Assess existing systems against the Operational Excellence pillar of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and lead improvements in efficiency, automation, reliability, and supportability.
• Participate in backlog grooming with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Scrum Team, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are accurately captured in user stories.
• Collaborate with project team members throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Clarify project requirements with stakeholders, own system architecture and technical design, and guide the development of application components.
• Conduct design and code reviews to maintain application quality and adherence to engineering standards.
• Mentor, coach, and train junior developers while promoting software development best practices.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with significant coursework in software development and computer science.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including designing and building high-volume transactional, large-scale distributed, and multi-tenant systems using cloud-native technologies.
• Expert-level experience designing and developing scalable microservices using Spring Boot and API gateways.
• Demonstrated experience building and deploying large-scale applications in cloud environments.
• Deep understanding of AWS services across compute, storage, containers, security, monitoring, databases, and front-end web and mobile technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial and open-source tools and technologies, including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Docker, Git, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, Amazon CloudWatch, Python, Amazon EC2, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon Bedrock, and Terraform.
• Experience with database management systems and technologies, including SQL and Amazon Redshift.
• Strong understanding of programming concepts, software development methodologies, the software development lifecycle, and Agile practices.
• Ability to work independently with remote management and distributed local and remote teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and training junior developers.
