Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (PCB and PCBA)

Compensation: $100,000 - $205,000 / year
Description
As an AvionicsManufacturing Engineer at Impulse (PCB and PCBA), you will provide deep technical expertise on PCB and PCBA technology for spaceflight. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of vehicles we send into orbit and beyond.
Leveling will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Develop, qualify and optimize manufacturing processes for PCBAs
Write work instructions for PCBA manufacturing, including solder rework, polymerics (conformal coating, staking, underfill), functional and environmental testing
Own environmental, functional and software acceptance testing of PCBAs (e.g. thermal cycling)
Set up and operate and troubleshoot hardware acceptance testing (ATP) in a fast-paced environment
Maintain, troubleshoot and update test systems
Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability, drawing review and DFM/DFA of PCBs and PCBAs
Provide day-to-day support to PCBA technicians on the production floor
Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and drive implementation of corrective actions for non-conformances
Optimize production rate, yield and cost of PCBA production
Write specifications for, and lead qualification of, both PCB and PCBA vendors for flight and non-flight applications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality and long-term reliability
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PCB and PCBA manufacturing to drive innovation
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
3+ years of demonstrated manufacturing experience with PCBs and PCBAs
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in PCBs and PCBA manufacturing
Experience with setup, operation and troubleshooting of PCBA test systems
Preferred Skills and Experience
MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Experience with PCB and PCBA manufacturing for space applications
In-depth understanding of PCBA functional testing, software testing and environmental testing
Experience automated optical inspection (AOI), and X-ray/CT inspection of PCBAs

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
