Service Manager to lead our automotive service operation in Barrington, IL. This high-impact role calls for a proven leader who can develop teams, improve performance, elevate customer satisfaction, and drive results through change.
What You'll Do- Lead, coach, and motivate the Service Department team to deliver strong performance and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, workflow, customer communication, and efficiency.
- Set clear expectations and build a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor KPIs, financial performance, productivity, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction; act quickly on opportunities for improvement.
- Improve customer retention, loyalty, repair order profitability, and overall department performance.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Recruit, develop, evaluate, and retain high-quality service employees.
- Partner with Parts, Sales, the General Manager, and dealership leadership to deliver a seamless customer experience and achieve store objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
What We're Looking For- Proven experience as an Automotive Service Manager or senior service leader in a dealership environment.
- Track record of improving performance, developing employees, and delivering measurable results.
- High-volume dealership service department experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of dealership service operations, repair processes, workflow, technician productivity, parts coordination, and customer service.
- Ability to lead through change while maintaining accountability, morale, productivity, and professionalism.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to manage service department financials and KPIs.
- Customer-first mindset with excellent leadership, communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on, visible leadership style with the ability to earn team respect and commitment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; related degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license; clean driving record preferred if regular operation of customer vehicles is required.
- Experience with dealership management systems and automotive repair software; Tekion experience is a plus.
