Reporting to the Manager of Electrical Engineering, the Automation Engineering Designer will be responsible for the development of automation solutions for assembly and component manufacturing. Working with our manufacturing engineering team and operations stakeholders, you will be responsible for the implementation, verification and deployment of automation solutions. The position is onsite supporting our manufacturing operation. In this position, the incumbent will be an integral member of the Engineering team whose responsibility is to create innovative automation systems to produce repeatable compliant sub-assemblies and components.The individual will handle deployments from design through to release to production including safety certifications, operational and maintenance documentation. A key aspect will be documenting and providing the return on investment and operational improvements achieved.
What You Will Do:
- Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual intervention, increase throughput and quality
- Design & implement production automation equipment solutions to manufacture components and subassemblies
- Provide return on investment and operational cost savings for automation
- Create documentation for Automation Solutions including procedures for operation, maintenance and calibration.
- Coordination with Digital Transformation Partners applying digital automation strategy to collect throughput data and test data to make available and mineable digitally
- Working with and leveraging outside partners speed delivery and implementation of systems
- Share in the commitment towards a positive workplace culture
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Must have a post-secondary Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Robotics Degree or equivalent Technology Diploma
- 0-4 years9 industry experience
- Experience creating technical drawings including electrical schematics and wiring drawings
- Ability to multitask & work well under pressure in dynamic environment
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with Automation Technologies such as Articulated Robots, PLC9s
- Electrical Test Equipment such as DMM9s, Oscilloscopes etc.
- Exposure to SQL or other relational database systems
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and Digitization of Factory Environment

The salary range for this role is 65,000 CAD - 107,800 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
