The Automation Engineer II is responsible for using the latest technology to improve, streamline and automate manufacturing processes by designing and implementing equipment that has a positive impact on quality, capacity, and cost of products. Must have proven ability to prioritize, plan and execute multiple projects independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with other engineers and manufacturing/assembly personnel to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of production are achieved.
- Design and plan electrical systems, including power, communications, and data.
- Create project plans to organize and direct project activities.
- Establish equipment specifications and requirements.
- Develop appropriate documentation including wiring schematics, bills of material, operation manuals, and troubleshooting guides for newly established automated equipment/processes.
- Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate project deliverables.
- Collaborate with New Product Development engineering to ensure new product designs meet DFM/DFA guidelines.
- Manage the Validation / Verification Process for new equipment release.
- Create operation manuals, training documentation, spare part lists, and troubleshooting guides for newly established automated equipment/processes.
- Support maintenance with diagnostic, troubleshooting and repairs of automated manufacturing systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering, Automation Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with automated assembly equipment and systems.
- Minimum 2 years hands on experience with instrumentation and controls equipment including PLCs, HMIs, and networking equipment.
- Keyence vision system programming experience preferred.
- Yushin robot programming experience a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong solid modeling skills utilizing SolidWorks
- Familiar with programming of PLC’s, Beckhoff preferred.
- Designing and development of HMI systems
- Familiar with pneumatics and servo actuators/controls
- Strong electromechanical skill set.
- Strong problem-solving skills, hands on individual with the ability to multitask.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft office products including Project, and Excel
