Description

The Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (Tufts CSDD) is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position with expertise in conducting economic analyses.

All CSDD faculty bring subject matter expertise and raise grant funding annually to support and nurture that expertise. CSDD faculty engage in all aspects of research: raising funding and support; planning and executing scholarly studies; analyzing results; presenting study findings and publishing study results in peer-reviewed and trade journals.

As a clinical department in the School of Medicine, faculty positions are not tenured. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.

1.0 FTE salary ranges:

Assistant Professor $108,000 - $162,000

Associate Professor $120,000 - $200,000

Qualifications

We are interested in candidates with a doctoral degree in health economics, finance and management-related areas with experience directing and conducting grant-funded quantitative and qualitative research on a range of drug development areas including:
• The cost to develop a drug or biologic overall
• Economic assessments of study budgets and clinical activities
• Trends in the economics of drug development and underlying factors driving these trends
• Return on investment and expected net present value modeling of new solutions and practices impacting development speed, efficiency and cost
• Success and failure rates of therapeutic assets moving through the clinical development pathway
• The impact of regulatory reform on drug development performance and economics
• Macro-level development strategies (e.g., M&A, portfolio composition) and their impact on performance and economics

We will consider master's degree-level candidates with extensive experience. We are particularly interested in individuals with familiarity of the drug development process and of operating functions and services supporting global R&D in the pharmaceutical industry.
