JOB SUMMARYThe Associate Vice President of Technology (AVP) provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's information technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Management Information Systems (MIS) functions. This executive-level role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive technology strategy that supports organizational growth, operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, and information security.
The AVP will play a critical role in leading the integration of technology environments following organizational acquisitions, ensuring business continuity while modernizing systems and processes. This individual will oversee technology operations, cybersecurity initiatives, data management, reporting infrastructure, and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), while partnering closely with executive leadership and departmental stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative technology leader with broad expertise across infrastructure, information systems, cybersecurity, data environments, and enterprise applications. They possess the ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business solutions and guide both internal teams and external technology partners toward successful outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTechnology Strategy & Executive Leadership- Develop and execute short- and long-term technology roadmaps spanning 6, 12, and 24-month planning horizons.
- Align technology initiatives with organizational strategic goals, operational priorities, and growth objectives.
- Evaluate technology investments and provide recommendations regarding risks, costs, benefits, and long-term sustainability.
- Advise executive leadership on technology trends, cybersecurity risks, infrastructure modernization, and innovation opportunities.
- Establish technology priorities while effectively managing budgets, resources, and competing business demands.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across technology functions.
Technology Integration & Enterprise Systems- Lead the integration of multiple technology environments resulting from acquisitions, mergers, or organizational growth initiatives.
- Assess and evaluate existing applications, infrastructure, vendors, security controls, and operational processes.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate systems, optimize technology investments, and improve organizational efficiency.
- Develop and execute phased integration plans that minimize operational disruption and maintain data integrity.
- Partner with operational leaders and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and user adoption of new technologies.
Infrastructure, Networking & Cybersecurity- Provide oversight of enterprise infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, hardware, software, and endpoint management.
- Manage and optimize the organization's Microsoft 365 environment, including identity and access management.
- Oversee cybersecurity initiatives including:
- Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
- Single Sign-On (SSO)
- VPN access management
- Patch management
- Endpoint security
- Password and identity governance
- Direct security operations and endpoint detection and response (EDR) programs utilizing platforms such as CrowdStrike, Huntress, or similar solutions.
- Ensure appropriate cybersecurity controls, policies, risk management procedures, disaster recovery, and incident response plans are maintained.
- Manage relationships with internal and external resources responsible for infrastructure and security operations.
Management Information Systems (MIS), Data & Reporting- Oversee MIS operations including data warehouse environments, SQL Server platforms, data governance, and external reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with Process Management and Analytics teams to support Power BI reporting, dashboards, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
- Ensure organizational data is accurate, secure, accessible, and effectively leveraged for decision-making.
- Establish data governance standards and clear ownership across technology, reporting, and analytics functions.
- Improve collaboration among IT, MIS, analytics, operations, and business stakeholders.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Innovation- Develop and implement the organization's AI strategy to improve productivity, service delivery, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
- Identify and evaluate AI solutions that support clinical, administrative, and operational workflows.
- Explore innovative technologies such as ambient documentation, service desk automation, intelligent reporting, and predictive analytics.
- Ensure AI initiatives comply with applicable privacy, security, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Promote responsible AI adoption through governance, education, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Serve as an internal advisor on AI trends, opportunities, and emerging technologies.
Leadership, Staff Development & Vendor Management- Provide leadership and mentorship to technology personnel across IT and MIS functions.
- Assess organizational technology capabilities and identify opportunities to enhance internal resources or leverage third-party expertise.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing technology professionals.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, service agreements, and technology spending.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and service expectations.
- Encourage a collaborative, customer-focused approach to technology services throughout the organization.
Experience and SkillsEDUCATION- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE- Seven (7) or more years of progressive technology leadership experience, including responsibility for infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and strategic planning.
- Experience leading technology integration efforts, system consolidations, or enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, human services, nonprofit, or other highly regulated environments strongly preferred.
