Position Overview Provides leadership, strategic direction, management, and administration of college-wide business services, including purchasing, risk management, auxiliary services, property management, and real estate. The position recommends and implements policies and procedures that promote operational effectiveness, fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, and the safeguarding of College assets. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.
What you will be doing - Drives innovation and operational efficiency to maximize service quality and revenue generation for business and auxiliary operations.
- Leads the College's risk management, safety, loss control, insurance, and asset protection programs.
- Oversees auxiliary services operations, including contracts and vendor relationships for bookstore, food service, vending, and other revenue-generating services.
- Leads business operations for procurement and property/asset management and provides financial and business reporting for internal stakeholders, federal, state and local agencies, and other external parties, as required.
- Oversees hiring and selection, training, supervising, and evaluation of staff in business and auxiliary services operations.
- Develops and manages departmental budgets for the Business Affairs Department and conducts cost, revenue, and productivity analyses to improve operational efficiency and fiscal performance.
- Establishes, and maintains effective organizational structures, workflows, and staffing models to support departmental and the College's goals.
- Assists the Vice Provost and Chief Financial Officer with the development of long-range financial plans for operating and capital resources.
- Represents the Department of Business Affairs at established College meetings, committees, and workgroups, providing expertise in financial management, procurement, property management, risk management, real estate, and auxiliary operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed - Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field and seven (7) years of management experience in one of the following areas: budgeting, financial management, risk management, auxiliary services, or related administrative roles or; Bachelor's degree and eleven (11) years of progressive management experience in the respective fields. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures, regulations and bylaws, and the legal environment within which they operate
- Knowledge of fiscal management principles
- Knowledge of the procurement process for goods and services adhering to established State laws and policies and College procedures
- Knowledge of contract administration, procurement methods, and vendor management
- Knowledge of effective risk management processes and loss management techniques
- Knowledge of property management principles and the safeguarding of College assets
- Knowledge of auxiliary services operations, contract administration, vendor management, and strategic planning in support of revenue generation and optimization of auxiliary services
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise
- Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities and examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Skill in employee development and performance management
- Skill in both written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and compliance requirements affecting business and auxiliary operations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

- Ability to analyze complex financial, operational, and risk-related issues and develop effective solutions

Essential Position This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
