Overview

We have an immediate need for an Associate Vice President Structural Engineer / New England Infrastructure Practice Lead to join our Newton, MA office.

 

This role represents a unique opportunity to help shape and grow LiRo-Hill’s presence in New England, with a focus on public sector infrastructure and municipal clients, while collaborating with a deep, multidisciplinary bench across the region.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven civil/structural engineer with a background in transportation, bridge, and/or municipal infrastructure projects to lead our New England growth initiatives from our Newton office.

 

 

This is a seller-doer leadership role focused on:

  • Building and maintaining client relationships with agencies such as MassDOT, MBTA, and local municipalities
  • Supporting and growing infrastructure-related opportunities
  • Serving as a local presence and client-facing leader, while leveraging LiRo-Hill’s broader technical resources

 

The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial mindset, strong local connections, and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, multi-office delivery environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with public sector clients, including MassDOT, MBTA, and municipal agencies
  • Support and lead business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and industry involvement
  • Serve as a local technical and project leader for infrastructure and structural assignments, including bridges, transportation systems, and related facilities
  • Coordinate with internal teams across NYC, Long Island, and New Jersey to deliver high-quality engineering services
  • Manage projects including scope, schedule, budget, and client communication
  • Provide technical oversight and QA/QC for structural and civil engineering deliverables
  • Support multidisciplinary coordination with architecture, MEP, and site/civil teams in the region
  • Mentor and help grow local staff as the New England team expands
  • Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and client meetings
  • Assist in shaping the strategic direction of LiRo-Hill’s New England infrastructure and structures presence

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with a focus on transportation and/or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts, additional New England licensures preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with MassDOT, MBTA, and/or local municipalities
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of structural systems related to bridges and infrastructure, with working knowledge of building structures and/or site civil systems
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-office environment and leverage remote technical resources

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a positive work environment
  • Compensation: Minimum: $180,000/yr.; Maximum: $210,000/yr. The range provided is the salary that the Firm in good faith believes at the time of this posting is willing to pay for the advertised position.  Exact compensation will be determined on the individual candidate’s qualifications and location.
