Position Highlights The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson seeks an accomplished academic vascular surgeon to serve as the next Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Surgery, the Division Chief will provide visionary leadership to one of the Southwest's premier academic vascular surgery programs and will partner with leaders across Banner - University Medicine to advance excellence in patient care, education, research, and innovation.
The Division of Vascular Surgery has a strong academic foundation with a nationally recognized faculty, an ACGME-accredited integrated vascular surgery residency and traditional fellowship, and a growing clinical enterprise spanning the full spectrum of open and endovascular vascular care. The next Chief will have the opportunity to shape the future of the division by expanding multidisciplinary clinical programs, fostering collaborative research, mentoring the next generation of vascular surgeons, and strengthening the division's national reputation.
A particular area of strategic growth is the development of a comprehensive multidisciplinary Aortic Center, created in close partnership with the Division of Cardiac Surgery, bringing together expertise in complex thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic disease, advanced endovascular therapies, hybrid procedures, and coordinated longitudinal care.

Duties & Responsibilities The Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the division, including clinical care, education, research, faculty development, and program growth. The successful candidate will:
- Develop and execute a bold strategic vision for the continued growth of the Division of Vascular Surgery.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on excellence in patient-centered care, innovation, professionalism, and academic achievement.
- Lead and mentor an accomplished faculty while recruiting and developing future leaders in vascular surgery.
- Strengthen and expand multidisciplinary clinical programs in collaboration with cardiac surgery, interventional radiology, cardiology, nephrology, wound care, and other specialties.
- Lead the development of a nationally recognized multidisciplinary Aortic Center emphasizing comprehensive care for complex aortic disease.
- Support continued growth in advanced open and endovascular therapies, limb preservation, carotid disease, dialysis access, venous disease, and vascular trauma.
- Promote excellence in resident and fellow education across both the integrated vascular surgery residency and traditional vascular surgery fellowship.
- Expand the division's research portfolio through clinical investigation, translational science, investigator-initiated studies, and participation in multicenter trials.
- Build partnerships throughout Arizona and the surrounding region to enhance referral networks and improve access to advanced vascular care.
- Work collaboratively with departmental and health system leadership to achieve operational excellence, quality improvement, and sustainable program growth.

Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:- Outstanding academic leader with a national/international reputation as an accomplished clinician, investigator, and educator.
- Proven, substantial, and progressive leadership experience in an academic medical center.
- Demonstrated research experience and interest.
- Track record of building relationships with community-based providers and working in complex systems.
- Ability to engage faculty, mentor the careers of others, and collaborate within a complex health care system.
Minimum Qualifications - Be eligible for the rank of Associate or full Professor.
- Hold an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree.
- Be eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.
