OverviewThe School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) at Providence College (also referred to as "the College" or "PC") invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Health Sciences (also called "Associate Dean") at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is August 2027, with the possibility of a January 2027 or spring 2027 start if applicable.
The Associate Dean serves as a key member of the School's leadership team and works closely with the Dean to advance the academic mission of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean provides leadership in academic affairs, including collaborating directly with the department chairs and program directors to ensure curricular and research excellence and operational effectiveness across the School. The Associate Dean has a particular focus and advises the Dean on matters related to existing and new academic programs, faculty development, student success, and long-term strategic priorities to advance the school's growth and academic reputation of excellence in the health sciences.
The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment with primary teaching responsibilities in Health Sciences, while collaborating with faculty in Nursing and related majors focused on preparing students for careers in the health professions. Additional opportunities exist to develop new and innovative graduate programs in health sciences.
As a tenured faculty member, the successful candidate will maintain an active program of scholarship consistent with their discipline, as well as mentor health sciences faculty to develop their scholarly goals and accomplishments. An additional exciting opportunity is for the Associate Dean to develop new health sciences and interdisciplinary research opportunities and collaborative ventures across the school and college to advance the scholarly reputation of Providence College as a leader in health sciences and health care innovation.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC's newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing and other health professions. The 153,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Scienceshouses the School of Nursing and Health Sciences' existing and future undergraduate and graduate programs. This one-of-a-kind facility opened in January 2025 and features the latest classroom design and technologies and showcase expansive clinical simulation and research facilities, including a human performance laboratory and environmental simulation chamber. The department features a purpose-built classroom for teaching microbiology for the health professions and courses on applied human anatomy and physiology using the latest virtual cadaver technologies. A student career education and advising center, along with conference and meeting space, is included as part of the inspiring resources intended for preparing the next generation of healthcare providers, researchers, and educators.

The salary for this position is between $125,000-$150,000.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis is a tenure-track faculty position with an administrative appointment as Associate Dean. Essential administrative responsibilities associated with the Associate Dean role report directly to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Faculty responsibilities, including teaching, scholarship, student advising, assessment, and departmental service, report to the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences. Primary teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate level and will include academic advising and service to the College.
Education and ExperienceCandidates with an earned doctorate in Health Sciences, Exercise Science, Human Physiology, or a closely related field are encouraged to apply. A doctoral degree, demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching, and evidence of scholarly productivity are required for this faculty appointment.
