Board-certified or board-eligible in General Pediatrics
Demonstrated leadership in quality improvement and multidisciplinary team management
Experience in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, General Pediatrics, or relevant pediatric subspecialties
Massachusetts medical license and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required

Franciscan Children's Hospital is seeking an innovative pediatric physician to join our growing inpatient medical team as a Pediatric Hospitalist and Assistant Medical Director. This newly created position combines the care of medically complex children with meaningful physician leadership. About 80% of the role is inpatient clinical care. The remaining 20% is protected administrative time to partner with the Medical Director of the Inpatient Medical Units on initiatives that strengthen patient access, optimize clinical operations, and support the hospital's continued growth. This role is ideal for a physician who is energized by caring for children with complex medical needs, improving systems of care, building multidisciplinary teams, and helping shape the future of pediatric post-acute and rehabilitative medicine. You will receive mentorship from senior physician leadership and gain hands-on experience in hospital operations, strategic planning, program development, and multidisciplinary leadership. Key Responsibilities
Coverage includes daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts.
Partner with the Medical Director and nursing leaders to develop and continuously improve the Patient Access & Clinical Operations program
Collaborate with admissions, case management, patient experience, and clinical operations teams to optimize patient access, bed utilization, and throughput
Lead admissions, daily management, and discharge planning, emphasizing progression and safe transition to home or lower levels of care
Participate in clinical review of referrals and support admission decisions for medically complex pediatric patients
Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians, hospitals, and health systems throughout the region
Improve referral processes, transfer efficiency, and communication to enhance the experience of referring providers and families
Lead multidisciplinary initiatives to improve patient flow, discharge planning, and transitions of care
Use operational and clinical data to identify trends, monitor performance, and drive quality improvement
Help develop strategic plans for growth in patient volume, new clinical programs, and regional partnerships
Contribute to the long-term vision as Franciscan Children's prepares to open a new hospital in 2030, with expanded inpatient capacity and state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities
Minimum Qualifications Education
MD or DO
Board-certified or board-eligible in General Pediatrics
Experience
Proven leadership in quality improvement, multidisciplinary team management, project management, and relationship building
Experience in one or more of the following: Pediatric Hospital Medicine, General Pediatrics with inpatient experience, Complex Care, Palliative Care (PACT), Pediatric Pulmonology, NICU, PICU, or other relevant pediatric subspecialties
