Overview

The Associate Manager, Commercial Energy will lead the implementation, optimization, and innovation of utility-sponsored energy efficiency, electrification, and demand-side management (DSM) programs. This role integrates strategic oversight, client engagement, team leadership, and operational excellence to deliver measurable energy savings, pilot emerging technologies, and support underserved communities in the clean energy transition. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical acumen, program management expertise, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of residential, commercial, and pilot energy efficiency programs.
  • Manage program budgets, forecasts, key performance indicators (KPIs), and regulatory deliverables.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including analysts, engineers, outreach, and marketing personnel.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure program objectives are achieved.
  • Support business development efforts, program launches, transitions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Design and execute pilot programs to evaluate innovative technologies and delivery models.
  • Conduct analyses on cost-effectiveness, energy savings, and market potential.
  • Monitor trends in energy efficiency, flexible load management, and distributed energy resources.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients, manufacturers, and community stakeholders to foster innovation.
  • Direct teams responsible for project reviews, incentive processing, and performance reporting.
  • Develop and maintain business workflow documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process automation strategies.
  • Present program performance metrics and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT and reporting teams to prioritize data requests and enhance visualization tools.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Energy, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency, utility program management, or consulting.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional teams and client relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel; experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pilot programs, retail and midstream product strategies, or HVAC and lighting technologies.
  • Familiarity with Technical Reference Manuals (TRMs), Measurement & Verification (M&V) protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, BPI, RESNET, or Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated experience working with underserved communities and engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of State Regulatory processes, filings, and protocols relative to energy utilities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$81,499.00 - $138,549.00
