Stout is seeking an experienced Associate to join our Investment Banking group, specifically within the Healthcare team. The Associate will play a pivotal role in driving the firm’s M&A advisory efforts while gaining extensive deal process experience by collaborating with senior bankers and serving as a critical resource in client coverage, prospecting, and engagement execution.
This role offers Associate the opportunity to strengthen their technical skills, build client relationships, and gain valuable exposure to transaction processes while working alongside experienced professionals across the firm.
What You’ll Do
Execute healthcare investment banking transactions across life sciences and healthcare services sectors.
Build financial models and perform valuation analyses using discounted cash flow, precedent transaction, comparable company, and pro forma merger methodologies.
Analyze financial performance, operating metrics, capital structures, and transaction scenarios to support client recommendations.
Coordinate due diligence, transaction workstreams, and communication among clients, buyers, investors, legal counsel, accounting advisors, and other transaction participants.
Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, valuation materials, and other transaction documents.
Conduct company, industry, market, buyer, and investor research, including identifying potential strategic and financial buyers for sell-side transactions.
Participate in client meetings, management presentations, buyer discussions, and internal transaction reviews.
Maintain regular communication with senior bankers and client management regarding transaction progress, priorities, and key deliverables.
Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance research, streamline deliverable preparation, and improve overall efficiency and insight.
Review Analyst work product, provide day-to-day coaching, and support the development of junior team members.
Take increasing ownership of transaction execution from engagement kickoff through closing.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.
3–5 years of middle-market investment banking experience, preferably within healthcare or life sciences.
Demonstrated transaction execution experience supporting engagements from preparation through closing; experience with 10 or more completed transactions is preferred.
Strong knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, private placements, valuation, and capital markets processes.
Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with or interest in using AI tools and technology to enhance productivity, research, and analysis.
Strong communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
Experience reviewing the work of junior team members and supporting their development.
FINRA licenses required for the role, or ability to obtain them within the required period.
