Full Job Description
Meta seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel on the Meta Reality Labs legal team. In this role, you will be the central legal owner for Meta's emerging hardware regulatory obligations across Meta's app stores and hardware, including wearables and VR. You will provide strategic legal counseling to internal product counsel as well as product, engineering, supply chain, and business teams to identify and mitigate global regulatory risks for Meta's app stores and hardware devices. You will be a key member of the Reality Labs regulatory readiness legal team, including working with central teams on behalf of AR and VR products for compliance with new AI laws. In this role, you will work on novel, high-impact regulatory issues as part of a growing legal team.

Responsibilities

Serve as the central legal owner for Meta's emerging hardware regulatory obligations across wearables, VR, App Stores, coordinating readiness across the full product lifecycle
• Advise product, engineering, supply chain, packaging, and business teams on live regulatory obligations, including EU battery replaceability, PFAS-free packaging, and device and product disclosures
• Analyze products, policies, and initiatives to provide practical legal risk-mitigation strategies for hardware devices across multiple jurisdictions, including evaluating the impact of emerging device and environmental regulations, regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions
• Build and maintain the regulatory readiness framework and processes to track, prioritize, and operationalize emerging hardware obligations ahead of enforcement deadlines
• Work cross-functionally with attorneys from other legal teams such as privacy, regulatory, commercial, product, and litigation, and partner with policy, compliance, and outside counsel
• Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise on hardware and device regulatory developments across wearables, VR/AR, and consumer electronics

Minimum Qualifications
• J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
• 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm or in-house (applicable regulatory, product counseling, or hardware/consumer-product experience)
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance while managing multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Experience identifying and resolving complex legal or regulatory issues and communicating legal guidance to cross-functional stakeholders in writing and verbally

Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
• Experience balancing legal risk analysis with business objectives when counseling internal clients on regulatory matters
• Experience advising on hardware or consumer-electronics regulatory frameworks (e.g., product environmental regulations, battery, packaging and materials restrictions, device disclosures)
• Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes and operate a cross-functional regulatory readiness program
• Experience counseling product and engineering teams through the full product development lifecycle
• Experience with EU and global product regulatory regimes applicable to hardware, including AI enabled hardware
