Position Overview

Associate Director International Outreach

SALARY: $81,826.42 - $82,980.70

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

Description:

This position contributes to college by promoting quality educational degree programs to prospective international F-1 students. Under the general direction of the Director of International Outreach/Global Engagement, this position assists in the outreach, recruitment and retention of international students from around the world, with a to-be-determined assigned territory.

This is an exempt position that reports to the Director of International Outreach.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with the Director of International Outreach and other outreach team members to develop an annual outreach and recruitment plan which includes country-specific activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct (online and face-to face) on-going outreach and recruitment presentations at secondary and post-secondary institutions, study overseas education fairs, and with groups and individual meetings of prospective students, parents and international recruitment agency partners.
  • Provide on-going training of the college's international admissions requirements, academic advising and other support services and academic programs to prospective students, parents, secondary and post-secondary institutions and agency partners.
  • Travel overseas three (3) to six (6) months per year to implement strategic outreach and recruitment strategies, participate in education fairs, present on college programs and services, and to establish and maintain positive relationships with agency and academic partners.
  • Educate prospective students and parents on the benefits of the ¿2+2¿ university transfer pathway model.
  • Keep abreast of current global, national and local trends and analyze information related to international education; in particular students from countries in assigned territories.
  • Follow any changes to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) and immigration policies related to F-1 students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of International Outreach and other outreach team members, on incentive strategies to increase the number of referrals from agency partners.
  • Continuously review and analyze application data , related to individual business partner performance.
  • Assist the English Language Institute (ELI) faculty, and the International High School program staff to support retention of students.
  • Host business partners, prospective students, parents and secondary and post-secondary institutions; to include creating an agenda for the meetings and coordinating with staff, faculty, administrators, and student workers to assist with campus tours and informational meetings.
  • Organize quarterly individual and group check-in meetings with students from assigned territories.
  • Participate in quarterly New Student Orientation.
  • Identify (through research) and develop relationships with overseas high schools, universities and student recruitment agencies; to include training counselors and education consultants on the U.S. education system, in particular two-year (2+2) associate degree institutions.
  • Understand secondary and post-secondary education systems of other countries.
  • Create and maintain recruitment powerpoint presentations for recruitment.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design and translate marketing materials as needed.
  • Submit written post-recruitment trip reports on specific market (country) trends, prospective student, parent and business partner needs/concerns, for use by the Office of International Programs and the college to improve student recruitment strategies, program services, and retention.
  • Provide input in the revision of the Office for International Program's college website, marketing/recruitment materials, and all social media platforms related to designated markets.
  • Collaborate as part of a dynamic and multifaceted team, fill in and collaborate with other OIP service areas when needed, and work with campus faculty and staff to provide support and information regarding international students
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, International Education, Business, Sales or closely related field.
  • Two years full time experience in a professional marketing or recruiting position requiring planning, representing an organization, teamwork, communication to achieve results.
  • Experience traveling and working abroad on business or on a project basis.
  • Demonstrated ability working effectively with students from another country, their parents and overseas business partners.
  • Valid Passport and ability to travel to assigned destinations.
  • Ability to travel internationally three (3) to six (6) months a year representing the college at recruitment activities
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three or more years full time experience working at a college or university in a recruitment or marketing role
  • Three or more years of experience in a position requiring marketing, sales and/promotional business meetings overseas
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting and onsite/in-person. Recurring early/late hours (weekend/early morning/evening meetings). This position requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle. The ability to make sound judgments is essential. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk, and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. Inventory management requires some lifting and moving of objects up to 30lbs. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. This also includes the ability to produce clearly written documents. Those who are multilingual are strongly encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION:

Salary is $81,826.42 - $82,980.70 and is based on the Edmonds College administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends.

FLSA Status:

The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.
