Job Description
Lead supply chain strategy for our Lab Specimen Management Platform as a key member of the Integrated Supply Chain leadership team. You'll be the strategic liaison between global operations, regional business leaders, customer needs and executive stakeholders—driving service excellence, inventory optimization, and cost savings across our global network.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Design and implement global supply chain strategies aligned with BD's corporate objectives and regional business needs
- Lead the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, including Supply Review sessions at planner and executive levels
- Drive the Demand-Driven Value Network (DDVN) transformation to achieve working capital, cost, and service goals
- Partner with Manufacturing Operations Leaders to develop operations strategies aligned to platform business goals
- Deploy long-term planning strategies ensuring timely capital investments meet business needs
Operational Excellence
- Own end-to-end supply planning excellence with a "Zero Backorder" mentality
- Develop and implement Global Inventory Strategy using Multi-Echelon Inventory Optimization (MEIO) approach
- Lead supply chain network to consistently deliver On Time & In Full (OTIF) performance
- Drive capacity vs. demand insights, supply gap resolution, and inventory health reviews
- Lead BD Control Tower deployment to maintain highest customer service levels
- Resolve supply issues by collaborating with Manufacturing Integrators, Business Operations Centers, and global network planners
Process & Systems Innovation
- Champion Supply Chain Transformation Program adoption and standardization
- Sponsor continuous improvement initiatives across SAP, APS Supply Chain Management systems, and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI)
- Standardize planner workflows, enhance planning books, and increase system utilization
- Support global system rollouts including master data accuracy, validation strategies, and integrated testing
- Identify and implement standard processes to optimize internal and external supply chain metrics
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and inspire a large global team of supply chain professionals
- Create Human Resource Planning roadmaps and career development blueprints
- Develop training and qualification programs for supply planners
- Drive associate engagement through rewards and recognition programs
- Set team vision, align around company goals, and drive performance management
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Platform VP, Regional Business Leaders, Finance, Marketing & Sales, and R&D teams
- Balance competing priorities: cash/inventory investments, manufacturing efficiency, financial results, and customer service
- Lead change management for critical initiatives impacting supply planning
- Ensure alignment between Platform, Regional Demand, and Specimen Management IBP components
Success Metrics
- Service Excellence: Achieve targeted OTIF levels and minimize backorder dollars
- Inventory Optimization: Improve finished goods inventory (USD), reduce Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO), and eliminate obsolescence (Slow & Non-Movers)
- Cost Savings: Deliver transportation and warehouse cost reductions
- Operational Agility: Improve cycle times and lead times
- Strategic Delivery: Complete initiatives on time, on spec, and on budget
- Team Development: Meet employee engagement and talent management targets
Why This Role Matters
You'll serve as a change agent on both the Specimen Management Supply Chain Planning Leadership Team and the LSM Platform Leadership Team, directly impacting business performance through strategic supply chain leadership. Required Qualifications:
BS Supply Chain, Business Management, Finance, Engineering.
10 years progressive management experience in Supply Chain/ Operations
Experience leading cross functional teams and driving consensus in decision making
International Experience
Extensive experience with resource planning systems and software such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, i2.
Travel - Up to 10% domestically.
Skills and Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain Planning.
Will have demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement strategy.
Breadth of background across numerous roles / functions within an Integrated Global E2E Supply Chain organization would be preferred.
Demonstrated financial management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills.
Solid and broad supply chain functional expertise, with a clear understanding of the linkages from demand planning through production and distribution
In depth knowledge of business process, with a focus on Customer Facing & Integrated Supply Chain processes
Advanced knowledge of MRP/ERP and Advance Planning tools
Knowledge and implementation experience in Supply Network Planning heuristics optimization methodologies and software.
