What are we looking for?We are looking for someone to join us as our Associate Director and Corporate Counsel for our international expansion. You will join our lean and highly impactful legal team supporting Teladoc's key asset, BetterHelp, as it scales its operations outside of the US. Teladoc is an ever-growing, dynamic and world-spanning public parent company. BetterHelp is the world's largest virtual counseling service and a critical component to Teladoc's current and future growth.
This individual will be a key contributor to all aspects of BetterHelp's international legal needs. An ideal candidate for this position will be fluent in English with additional legal experience in one of our key European target markets (France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain or Italy). This team member must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. They will have an outstanding sense of commerciality and will be solutions focused. In addition, the candidate will have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, growing, exciting environment and to take ownership of projects and programs.
What will you do?This role works across multiple areas of law including contracts, litigation, IP, health and telehealth regulation, government affairs, employment, compliance and general corporate. Independent management of outside counsel is integral to the position, as well as hands-on production of work products.
As our international legal counsel, you will:
- Advise on a wide variety of legal issues related to our international business, supporting both new market launches and existing operations
- Negotiate and draft product partnership agreements, sales contracts, marketing affiliate/partner agreements advertising/creative/podcast/influencer agreements, SaaS, and vendor agreements in compliance with applicable laws with a focus on data security and privacy laws across the globe
- Support privacy compliance in non-US markets, including GDPR and local equivalents (e.g. advising on product/process changes and helping update related policies and procedures)
- Advise on marketing, digital services/platform laws, consumer protection, and trade practices requirements in international markets
- Support health/telehealth regulatory compliance in relevant markets, partnering with internal stakeholders and external/local counsel as needed
- Support employment and contractor legal matters in international markets and assist in drafting and updating related terms and agreements
- Support and optimise privacy operations, including privacy-related vendor/partnership reviews and privacy ticket triage/reviews (e.g. DSARs and other privacy inquiries)
- Support litigation matters and regulatory/government inquiries as needed, including coordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders (as applicable)

Can I work remotely?Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our San Jose, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.
RequirementsYou must be egoless, value collaboration, and be ready to put in the hard work to accomplish whatever the job demands.
Also required for this position:
- Must be a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction, with 1-5 years' post-qualification experience (or equivalent). UK or Ireland qualification is preferred, but EU-qualified lawyers are encouraged to apply.
- Fluency in English and experience working as a lawyer (preferably in-house) in one or more of our key European target markets (France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain or Italy). Fluency in another European language is a plus.
- Experience advising an international technology business operating across multiple jurisdictions (preferably in-house), ideally within a B2C, online platform/SaaS, and/or healthcare environment.
- 3+ years of relevant consumer business, online platform and/or health care legal experience. Experience with privacy, regulatory/government inquiries, marketing/advertising law highly desirable.

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and the extensive benefits listed here (subject to eligibility requirements): Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors - including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
