Job Description:
- Manage and supervise one or more college academic program(s).
- Oversee orientation and support programs for new faculty and trainers.
- Directly supervise Coordinators of Teaching and Learning and Program Directors. Lend support in supervising and training faculty and other staff members.
- Handle and resolve student requests and complaints that require administrative assistance or intervention.
- Prepare and manage grants and budgets, write annual reports, and prepare catalog information.
- Develop performance metrics and assess program outcomes. Oversee processes that ensure continuous improvement in curriculum and program quality.
- Participate in planning and implementing curriculum for one or more college academic program(s). Work with faculty and content experts to develop curricula and maintain quality of programs.
- Assist the Dean of Academic Affairs in long-range planning, development, and evaluation of courses, training, academic events, and academic programs.
- Assist in the preparation of accreditation reports and documentation.
- Recommend plans, policies and procedures for academic programs in the areas of responsibility. Interpret and ensure adherence to academic policies and procedures.
- In collaboration with senior directors, coordinators of teaching and learning, coordinators of student advising, and the registrar's office, ensure that administrative processes and expectations are clear.
- In partnership with curriculum committees and other members of Academic Council, promote and strengthen curricula, instruction, and advising; and guide the vision, development, and implementation of college-wide academic success and engagement.
- Identify and conduct outreach with external organizations. Collaborate with multiple partners in early childhood education, secondary education, and higher education to create and support articulation agreements and pathways leading to credentials and degrees.
- Provide leadership through participation in collegewide and VSCS committees and state and regional professional organizations and groups.
- Keep abreast of current developments in academic programs and educational requirements as well as academic technologies.
- May serve as acting Dean of Academic Affairs in the Dean's absence.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED General supervision is received from the Dean of Academic Affairs.
SUPERVISION EXERCISEDProvides supervision of Coordinators of Teaching and Learning and Program Directors. Indirectly supervises part-time faculty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in an appropriate discipline, three to five years of higher education teaching and administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Extensive knowledge of secondary and higher education systems is highly desirable, as is experience in providing faculty training and support.
Physical Requirements: Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties as a result of repetitive motion and/or long periods of standing or sitting. Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 15lbs) easy-to-handle materials.
Working Conditions: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise and interruptions. Work schedule may vary during high volume periods. This is an FLSA exempt, salaried position based on a typical 40 hour/week schedule.
