Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Marketing with a proven track record of developing and executing cross-category marketing strategies for beauty brands with an emphasis on color cosmetics. The ideal candidate has successfully led product launches at major beauty and specialty retailers such as Ulta and Olive Young, and possesses deep expertise in brand positioning, go-to-market strategy, consumer insights, retail activation, and growth forecasting.

This is a highly entrepreneurial role. Many of the brands will be newly introduced to the U.S. marketing, requiring the Associate Director to build the U.S. marketing strategy from the ground up. . The role will partner closely with leadership to evaluate brand growth opportunities, identify market trends, assess the long-term potential of product and brand portfolios, and drive execution across key marketing initiatives. A critical responsibility will be determining whether brands and products are positioned to scale successfully within the U.S. market and leading the execution required to achieve that growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop U.S. market strategies for newly launched brands, including target consumer identification, positioning, pricing strategy, messaging, and channel activation.
  • Serve as the marketing lead for color cosmetics while supporting growth opportunities across skincare and other beauty categories.
  • Assess brand health, market positioning, competitive landscape, and future growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies across retail, digital, social, influencer, PR, and performance marketing channels.
  • Lead go-to-market planning and execution for new product launches and retail expansions.
  • Evaluate brand scalability, retailer readiness, and the likelihood of long-term success in competitive categories.
  • Identify key growth drivers, market barriers, and operational requirements necessary to successfully scale a brand.
  • Partner with internal teams and external agencies to ensure timely and effective execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Develop launch calendars, campaign plans, promotional strategies, and retailer-specific activation programs.
  • Monitor campaign performance, analyze results, and optimize strategies based on data and market feedback.
  • Provide ongoing recommendations regarding portfolio strategy, category expansion, and investment priorities.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of marketing experience in beauty, wellness, CPG, or related industries.
  • Proven success leading both strategy development and hands-on execution of product launches at major retailers, including Ulta, Sephora, Olive Young, or similar national accounts.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments where resourcefulness, adaptability, and execution are essential.
  • Strong cross-category marketing expertise with the ability to identify emerging trends and consumer behavior shifts.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling brands from early growth stages to broader retail distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging market data, consumer insights, category trends, and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Experience managing agencies, cross-functional stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience advising senior executives.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with high-growth beauty or wellness brands.
  • Direct experience launching and growing brands within Ulta, Sephora, Olive Young, or similar channels.
  • Agency, or in-house leadership experience at recognized consumer brands.
  • Strong network within the beauty and consumer products industry.
  • Experience forecasting category trends and identifying emerging brands and product opportunities.

Salary range: $130-145k
