Scope of Job Responsible for providing operational leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of revenue cycle, credentialing, provider enrollment, payer relations, patient experience and patient access operations for UT Health RGV.
Description of Duties - Leads the revenue cycle strategic plan objectives and operational goal setting and execution through departmental leadership including Patient Access, Financial Counseling, Financial Clearance, Self-Pay Eligibility & Disability, Hospital & Physician Coding, Integrated Hospital and Physician Claims and Self-Pay Collections, Revenue Cycle Enhancement, Credentialing, Provider Enrollment, Payer relations, Revenue Cycle Training and performance monitoring.
- Oversees the implementation of Revenue Cycle Management practices/policies and procedures because of new laws and regulations that impact the Revenue Cycle ensuring industry compliance.
- Manages revenue cycle standards and establishes a process of oversight to monitor and verify all outsourced billing /coding, denial management, posting, customer service and reporting.
- Develops revenue cycle budgets, financial plans, projections, and an annual strategic plan complete with measurable goals, objectives and key performance indicators for measuring success.
- Leads the implementation of best practice revenue cycle standards to be followed by all UT Health RGV physician practices.
- Ensures oversight of timely onboarding and efficiency of provider enrollment and credentialing processes.
- Supports improvement projects that maximum revenue and reimbursements to UTHRGV.
- Directs the monitoring of program performance and develops processes to increase effectiveness and recognize and celebrate achievements; has an orientation towards continuous process improvements especially leveraging new technologies for all assigned areas.
- Identifies new technology, tools and key initiatives in Patient Access and Payer Relations/Provider Enrollment that will reduce cost and/or improve yield across the full spectrum of the revenue cycle.
- Oversees and leads all administrative and fiscal components for patient access points including outpatient, and ancillary registration, scheduling, pre-registration, along with related initiatives.
- Provides technical expertise to proactively drive and implement best practices across the revenue cycle.
- Leads the continuous review and improvement of the vendor-based revenue cycle system utilizing proven best practices for revenue cycle and patient access management.
- Leads the Health Care Call Center and drives innovation to leverage technology to improve patient access and the patient experience while accessing care; including the digital front door.
- Collaborates, coordinates, and communicates across departments especially with budget and finance on revenue cycle accounting, ambulatory operations, information technology, decision support, marketing and other support departments.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly and annual physician revenue cycle reports; contractual and bad debt reserve analysis; AR management, monthly reporting on entity, departmental and provider KPIs.
- Represents the needs, issues and opportunities of the Revenue Cycle & Patient Access operations team to the executive leadership teams.
- Provides revenue cycle and patient access support and set up for practice acquisitions and new provider hires.
- Develops revenue cycle leadership bench strength and creates appropriate succession plans to ensure that seamless transitions within revenue cycle management are in place.
- Provides leadership and direction in the planning, design, and coordination of programs and processes within the patient access and financial experience
- Assists in the preparation of ad hoc revenue cycle reporting for executive team to analyze current strategic direction and evaluate new business opportunities.
- Oversees revenue cycle benchmarking by comparing business processes and performance metrics to best practices in the market, and implements improvements to gain efficiency, lower cost, and higher quality
- Educates practice management on best practices related to revenue cycle and patient access by, reviewing/understanding practice KPI's and various operational revenue cycle activities.
- Provides revenue cycle leadership on committees and special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field from an accredited university.
Preferred Education Master's in Business Administration from an accredited University.
Licenses/Certifications N/A
Required Experience Seven (7) years of management experience in revenue cycle or closely related field within a large medical group or hospital/health system.
Preferred Experience Experience obtained in a complex academic medical center environment.
Equipment Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.
Other Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced-environment.
