Job Description:The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Credential Innovation directs implementation and growth of SUNY's microcredential program across the system. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Upward Mobility, the Assistant Vice Chancellor advances work that bridges student success, economic development and economic mobility. The Assistant Vice Chancellor brings recognized expertise in higher education, short-term and stackable credentials, academic and wrap-around supports and academic/industry partnerships to their work.
Job Duties:
- Oversee and grow SUNY's microcredential program, which spans dozens of campuses and hundreds of programs
- Work in close cooperation with campus presidents, chief academic officers and external partners to establish multi-campus microcredential programs in support of state workforce needs
- Supervise related data collection and research projects that support microcredential program assessment, student success and program growth
- Supervise the implementation of System and campus microcredential guidance and policies, including ensuring alignment with the policies of the Board of Trustees, Education Law, and other statutes
- Secure and lead grant programs to leverage microcredentials as a driver of student success and upward economic mobility
- Conceive, implement and monitor interventions and strategies, including internships for microcredential students, that support the continued growth and effectiveness of the program
- Work in close cooperation with SUNY System offices, including the offices of Student Success, Community Colleges and the Education Pipeline and Provost's Office to identify and advance synergies and support program growth and effectiveness
- Advance the state and national reputation of SUNY's program through authorship, convenings, teaching and engagement.
Requirements:Required Education/Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or higher and at least 10 years of higher education experience
- Expertise in short-term and stackable credentials, including microcredentials
- Relevant campus-level work-based learning and workforce development experience
- Proven progress in securing and maintaining academic and industry partnerships
Preferred Education/Qualifications: - Master's degree, Ph.D. or Ed.D.
- Knowledge of success strategies for adult learners
- Familiarity with New York State education law and federal workforce programs
Additional Information: - Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range this position is $120,000 - $138,000 annually.
- The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position. Individual starting salaries are determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. While the full range is provided for transparency, starting salaries generally fall near the entry to midpoint of the range. Salaries at or near the top of the range are rare and reserved for candidates who exceptionally exceed all posted requirements.
