DescriptionAbout the OpportunityWe are looking for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Remotely! You'll be joining Soben at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets. Supporting one of our key Construction clients in the region, you will be responsible for developing and implementing key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of projects in our business.
What You'll DoCost Estimation & Measurement:- Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost plans, and tender documents using industry standards (e.g., NRM, SMM).
- Perform take-offs and measurements from drawings/specifications (manual or via software like CostX, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD)
Contract Support & Administration:- Aid in administering contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT, or FIDIC), including assessing variations, valuations, and subcontractor payments.
- Assist with change order management and ensure compliance with contractual terms
Financial Control & Reporting:- Support cost monitoring, budget tracking, and cash flow forecasting.
- Help prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and cost reports for senior QS/managers.
Procurement & Subcontractor Management:- Assist in procuring materials and subcontractors, including price comparisons, tender analysis, and negotiation.
- Maintain records of subcontractor agreements and progress payments.
Site Collaboration & Documentation:- Liaise with site teams, clients, and consultants to gather data for valuations and claims.
- Ensure accurate documentation of site measurements, progress reports, and delays.
Risk & Value Management:- Identify potential cost risks and opportunities for value engineering.
- Support senior QS in dispute resolution and claims avoidance.
Software & Compliance:- Utilize QS software (e.g., CostX, Revit, BIM 4D/5D) for efficient project delivery.
- Adhere to company policies, industry regulations (RICS/CIOB), and quality standards.
About You- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in cost estimating
- Data Centre experience is a plus!
- Proficient in the use of advanced functions in CostX to produce estimates, bills etc
- Proficient in the use of the required functions in Microsoft Office skills, (e.g., Excel, Word & PowerPoint) to an appropriate level
- Knowledge of relevant construction technologies and trends (Sustainability) to assist on appropriate options and cost implications.
- Team player with the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
- Organized and detailed oriented
- Field experience is a plus
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and writing).
