Full Job Description
Reporting to the Pre-Licensure Program Director, the Assistant Program Director, Pre-Licensure provides leadership in the daily operations of the College and supports implementation and maintenance of the nursing program through strategic planning, curriculum development, faculty mentoring, and teaching. In the Director's absence, the Assistant Program Director assumes responsibility for academic and curricular issues and supervises assigned faculty and staff within the College of Nursing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership & Program Administration:
    • In conjunction with the Pre-Licensure Program Director, provides operational and academic leadership
    • Assuming the duties of the Pre-Licensure Program Director in his/her
    • Maintain confidential student files and records documenting all pertinent academic information within the University, upholding FERPA regulations.
    • Respond to student concerns/problems and refer students to appropriate resources, including counseling
    • Ensures processes are in place to track, monitor and record student completion and/or program
    • Monitors NCLEX progression and develops corrective plans.
    • Provides leadership support to the Office of the Dean
    • Supervises professional and administrative staff as
    • Promotes intra- and inter-department collaboration and
    • Recommends resources needed for the college and
    • Advise on the short and long-range planning for the college and
    • Develops and cultivate community partners to further achievement of program goals and

Operational Leadership Support

  • Assists in implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Supports daily program operations.
  • Assists in preparing BRN and accreditation documentation.
  • Coordinates clinical placements and site evaluations.
  • Assists in monitoring student progression and program outcomes.
  • To supervise and assume responsibility for:
    • Participate in ongoing advisement and monitoring of students, faculty, and program to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies.
    • Ensures that full-time/part-time faculty files are current regarding RN licensure, CPR, malpractice, and health
  • Academic Support
    • Participates in curriculum development and evaluation.
    • Assists with outcome tracking and corrective action planning.
    • Supports faculty orientation and mentoring.
  • Faculty and Staff Support
    • Supervises assigned personnel as delegated.
    • Assists in maintaining faculty compliance documentation.
    • Supports recruitment and onboarding efforts.
  • Student Support
    • Assists with student advisement and progression monitoring.
    • Participates in student discipline processes as assigned.
    • Assisting with student advisement, coordination of matters regarding a student's progress in the program, and student discipline:
    • Oversee the arrangement of clinical placements by clinical
    • Visits to new clinical agencies as
    • Assist the Pre-Licensure Program Director with preparation of appropriate Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) forms for site approval visits.
    • Assist the Pre-Licensure Program Director with preparation of appropriate Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) forms for site approval visits.
    • Evaluation of clinical placement sites

  • Fiscal Support
    • Provides recommendations regarding resource needs.
    • Assists the Director with data collection for budget preparation.
    • Does not hold primary responsibility for budget development or fiscal oversight.
  • Faculty Responsibilities
    • Maintains assigned teaching load.
    • Participates in scholarship (research and scholarly writing)and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Master's degree in nursing required.

• Active California Registered Nurse license.

• Master's degree in nursing and doctorate in a related field required, with coursework in nursing, education, or administration.

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in California

• Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Board of Registered Nursing

Experience

• Two years teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.

• One year experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
