Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director of Perioperative Throughput is responsible for leading operational excellence and patient flow initiatives across the perioperative continuum at University Health. This leader drives strategic and day-to-day throughput performance from surgical scheduling and pre-admission optimization through operating room progression, PACU flow, and postoperative transitions. The Assistant Director partners with Perioperative Services, Anesthesia, Surgical Services, Nursing Operations, Patient Placement, Bed Management, Environmental Services, Sterile Processing, and physician leaders to improve access, increase surgical capacity, reduce delays, and optimize the patient experience. This position supports the organization's mission as a leading academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center by ensuring efficient utilization of perioperative resources while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient-centered care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required. Five to seven years of progressive perioperative leadership experience. Leadership experience in an academic medical center, tertiary care organization, or large health system preferred. Demonstrated success improving operating room efficiency and perioperative throughput. Experience leading multidisciplinary process improvement initiatives.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Current RN licensure in the State of Texas or Healthcare Administration leadership experience with equivalent qualifications
