JOB SUMMARY

This is an in-house position for an experienced attorney with five to seven years of experience handling general health care, commercial contracting, risk mitigation, business, regulatory, and transactional matters. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will work collaboratively and respectfully across departments to anticipate, identify, and manage Hendrick Health's legal issues. The Assistant General Counsel will be instrumental in keeping day-to-day operations and transactions moving quickly while protecting Hendrick Health.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership

Minimum Work Experience
  • Attorney with 5-7 years of relevant experience with commercial transactions in a law firm or in-house legal department

Required Licenses/Certifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Experience with commercial transactions in the healthcare industry preferred
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including service agreements, vendor agreements, statements of work, and business associate agreements in the healthcare space
  • Provide rapid, practical, business-oriented legal/commercial contract advice directly to business teams
  • Support business teams in negotiating price, deliverables, services scope, warranty, and other commercial terms
  • Handle ad-hoc projects across a spectrum of complex business, legal, and strategic issues
  • Knowledge of healthcare fraud and abuse laws, rules, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry codes, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act preferred
  • Able to quickly understand the business' needs, work effectively with business teams and other members of our department to craft solutions, and efficiently deliver results
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Innovative, adaptable, and creative, with the appetite to challenge assumptions and working practices constructively
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, learn quickly, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow, and adjust to frequent change
