Full Job Description
Cianbro is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to strengthen the company's controllership function, support audit readiness, and help scale accurate, timely financial reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of progressive senior-level accounting experience within a commercial organization, preferably in construction-related industries, along with proven leadership experience supervising accounting professionals and collaborating effectively in a fast-paced environment.The wage range for this position is $1,700.00 to $2,500.00 per week. Compensation will be determined based on knowledge and experience.
Location Requirements: This position is expected to be based at, and work from, one of Cianbro's office locations, a minimum of four days per week. The selected candidate must also be able to travel to and work from Cianbro's Corporate Offices as needed for onboarding, training, designated audit weeks, and other business-critical in-office events. Flexibility in attending occasional meetings and training sessions at corporate locations is required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the monthly accounting cycle and close process.
  • Partner with finance teams to implement accounting processes, procedures, and new accounting standards.
  • Complete complex accounting transactions and account reconciliations.
  • Review and approve monthly account reconciliations to ensure balance sheet integrity.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts stemming from the account reconciliation review process.
  • Support the Controller with annual audit preparation and serve as an audit liaison with operational teams.
  • Prepare company financial statements, including published balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop team members through training, goal setting, and consistent communication.
  • Support financial reporting by maintaining the financial reporting and general ledger structure, including new company setup and chart of accounts design.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage intercompany accounting and consolidation activities.
  • Assist with year-end consolidated financial reporting and closing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, operational teams, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of advanced-level accounting experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Understanding of construction cost accounting principles and revenue recognition standards required.
  • Ability to work independently and apply strong critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with ASC 842 preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience using Oracle Fusion ERP or another sophisticated ERP system.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with multi-company accounting and joint ventures required.
