Full Job Description
A growing and well-established professional services organization in the Delray Beach area is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting and finance team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional to take ownership of key financial processes while partnering closely with leadership across the organization. The Assistant Controller will play an important role in overseeing the monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, and expense management functions. This position is well suited for a CPA with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience who is comfortable operating in a multi-entity environment and can balance detailed accounting responsibilities with broader financial analysis.

  • Compensation: $120,000-$135,000 + Benefits

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and drive the month-end close process, ensuring financial results are accurate and delivered within established deadlines
  • Review general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules
  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting and management-level financial packages
  • Support the annual budgeting process, working with department leaders to develop assumptions and establish appropriate expense targets
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and communicate meaningful variances, trends, and financial drivers
  • Maintain and evaluate expense allocation methodologies across departments, entities, and cost centers
  • Partner with accounting and operational teams to investigate discrepancies and improve financial reporting accuracy
  • Assist with annual audit activities and provide supporting schedules and documentation
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reporting procedures, and internal controls
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members
  • Communicate financial information and analysis clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Take on additional accounting and financial analysis projects as the business evolves

Required Qualifications:
  • Active CPA license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting
  • Background working in a multi-entity environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, cost management, and/or cost allocation
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and financial models
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
