Job Description/Responsibilities

As the Assistant Controller, Manufacturing you will support the Manufacturing Controller in managing the accounting and financial operations of smaller to mid-tier manufacturing/operational plants. You will be responsible for timely and accurate month-end close, financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, reconciliations of general ledger accounts, effective financial planning to support operational excellence, and direct line personnel.  

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support year-end audits with external accounting firms, work with assigned plant team members to create our Annual Operational Plan, support monthly financial metrics and slides, and support Capital NPV business cases as assigned
  • Oversee financial and accounting close processes, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and timeliness, manage staff at assigned plants/operations; garner team member engagement with a drive for results mentality, consolidate budgets (Annual Operational Plans), financial forecasts, and variance analyses for assigned manufacturing units Support ERP implementation phasing as assigned, and manage the tactical execution of short- and long-term financial objectives
  • Analyze and reconcile General Ledger accounts, identify and resolve discrepancies, generate reports as requested by the Controller or management, recommend economic and financial objectives for assigned business units, and leverage technology to create business result driving insights, and cost reduction opportunities
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls through process reviews, internal control testing, and business process analysis, support technical accounting flows cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting/Tax as assigned, and ensure compliance with legal and accounting standards, including GAAP and corporate accounting principles
Qualifications/Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment with a CPG firm, and manufacturing cost accounting experience
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities, including proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Oracle), advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, Power Query, data modeling), and critical thinking to analyze financial data and drive insights
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders while demonstrating strong planning, attention to detail, initiative, and collaboration

Preferred:

  • MBA and/or professional designation (CPA), and experience with GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience as a people leader
