Description
As our Assistant Controller, you'll help build the accounting foundation of a growing firearms manufacturing business. You'll partner closely with operations leaders, drive cost accounting and inventory accuracy, improve reporting, strengthen controls, and help create scalable processes that support long-term growth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and turning financial data into actionable business insights.
What You'll Do- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Manage general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
- Own manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
- Partner with Operations to understand cost drivers and improve performance
- Analyze inventory activity, cycle counts, and inventory controls
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and working capital planning
- Help establish accounting processes, controls, and reporting for a growing organization
- Collaborate with leadership on financial analysis and business decisions
- Support audit, tax, banking, and compliance requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems, and operational efficiency
- Assist with future ERP implementation and process improvements
Requirements
What We're Looking For• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong manufacturing, cost accounting, and inventory accounting experience
• Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, and general ledger management
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills
• QuickBooks experience required
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
• Experience in acquisitions, startups, business transitions, or high-growth environments is a plus
