JOB SUMMARY:
Northeastern University Planning, Real Estate & Facilities is seeking an Assistant Campus Planner to join a team of talented planners to join the Campus Planning & Design (CP&D) department. The role will support the planning group in drafting innovative solutions to space challenges and capital projects to position Northeastern for continued growth and success as a top-tier R1 research institution and global university.
Under direction from the Associate Vice President, the Assistant Campus Planner will report directly to the Director of Research & Academic Campus Planning while providing broader support to the CP&D team. The role critically supports CP&D's responsibility for leading the broad range of strategic planning initiatives, space planning studies, and capital project scenario development, that align and maximize the utilization of space and capital investment with Northeastern's mission. The Assistant Campus Planner will support the team in developing communication materials that distill complex ideas into concise options and tradeoffs. Additionally, they will help collect and interpret data, conduct planning research and analysis, and collaborate on active planning initiatives led by the CP&D team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create strong visual communication materials including maps, presentations, and annotated floor plans to support departmental initiatives and project planning
• Conduct data gathering/coordination and research support, including precedents
• Create tools and generate materials to support and communicate multi-step space planning scenarios
• Accurately survey and document field conditions for specific projects and planning initiatives
• Conduct research on urban and campus planning initiatives including, but not limited to, mobility, housing, accessibility, best practices, as well as University space and capital project requests
• Generally, support campus planning staff on specific projects and planning initiatives as needed (note taking, project and meeting coordination, etc.)
• Prepare clear, well-organized written materials such as reports, meeting notes, memos, and project summaries to effectively communicate findings, action items, and recommendations
• Leverage AI tools and other emerging technologies to enhance research, data analysis, and workflow efficiency across planning initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a related field
• At least two years of experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong graphic illustration skills (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign) and experience distilling complex ideas into simple diagrams
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel)
• Strong ability to communicate in written, verbal, and graphic form
• Ability to switch between competing tasks and assignments
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability, willingness, and comfort working with people from various backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, linguistic styles, and socio-economic status.

Expected Hiring Range:
$67,855.00 - $95,845.00
With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
