Reporting to the CTE Executive Director, the AD will serve as a academic general faculty member (not tenure eligible), supporting instructors and academic units through consultations, resource and program development, program assessment, cross-school partnerships, and organizational development initiatives. The position's cross-disciplinary focus creates opportunities to strengthen collaboration with schools and units pursuing related priorities, particularly in AI and STEM education. The CTE, which is a nationally recognized, mature, well-resourced, and growing center for teaching and learning, especially seeks experienced educational developers who embrace the center's mission and core values of educational equity and inclusion, who thrive in work settings that encourage autonomy, creativity, and teamwork, and who wish to engage deeply in meaningful work in a supportive environment. The AD will leverage their established knowledge and expertise in inclusive pedagogies to advance CTE work (~70% of effort), engage in scholarly activity (~15% of effort), and teach one undergraduate course per year (~15% of effort). The AD is expected to work in person and may choose to adopt a hybrid work model that includes a mix of in-office and remote work, with a minimum of two in-office work days each week.
As a member of UVA's non-tenure track, general faculty, the AD is eligible for 1) promotion through the professorial ranks, 2) sabbaticals, and 3) consulting opportunities. Initial rank-assistant or associate professor-will depend on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
