About the job

The Asset Integrity Coordinator / API Inspector is responsible for managing and executing the site Mechanical Integrity inspection program for pressure vessels, tanks, piping, and other regulated equipment. This role ensures compliance with applicable codes, including API inspection standards, OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, and State of Illinois regulations.

The position serves as the site's authorized inspector for regulated equipment, responsible for reviewing inspection results, determining equipment fitness for service, and developing repair or mitigation plans when deficiencies are identified. The role combines technical program oversight with field verification, supporting inspection execution, condition assessment, and documentation of regulated assets.

In your future role as a Asset Integrity Coordinator, you will

This role is critical in maintaining the operation of the facility equipment to provide a safe working environment of personnel and site occupants and ensure continuity of production uptime.

Mechanical Integrity & Inspection Program
  • Coordinate and manage the site inspection program for pressure vessels, piping systems, tanks, boilers, and other regulated equipment.
  • Ensure inspections are executed in accordance with applicable codes and standards including API 510, API 570, API 653, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Maintain inspection intervals, records, and documentation to ensure compliance with OSHA PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements.


Regulatory Compliance
  • Serve as the site's authorized API Inspector responsible for reviewing and approving inspection reports.
  • Sign and certify regulatory inspection documentation as required by applicable codes and the State of Illinois inspection requirements.
  • Ensure inspection activities meet internal standards and regulatory expectations.


Inspection Review & Fitness for Service
  • Evaluate inspection findings including thickness measurements, corrosion rates, and damage mechanisms.
  • Determine equipment condition and remaining life.
  • Develop and approve repair, replacement, or mitigation plans when deficiencies are identified.
  • Support Fitness-For-Service evaluations when required.


Field Inspections Support
  • Participate in and support field inspections during turnarounds, outages, and routine inspection activities.
  • Verify inspection quality and ensure proper inspection techniques are used.
  • Assist with condition assessments of critical equipment.


Repair Planning & Technical Support
  • Define repair requirements for pressure vessels, piping, and tanks in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Support development of repair packages and inspection plans for maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance, reliability, and engineering teams.


Documentation & Program Management
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and asset history within the site asset management or inspection database.
  • Track inspection due dates and ensure timely completion of required inspections.
  • Support audits related to Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety.


Cross-Functional Support
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure safe and reliable operation of regulated equipment.
  • Support turnaround planning and execution for inspection scope.


We believe you bring

  • Current certification as an API Inspector (such as API 510, API 570, and API 653).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in inspection, mechanical integrity, or asset integrity programs in a refinery, chemical, or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and applicable inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Mechanical Integrity requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection reports, and code requirements.
  • Ability to impact and influence - able to persuade others to a particular course of action.
  • Experience supporting turnarounds and outage inspections.
  • Experience with inspection data management systems or asset management software.
  • Experience in PSM-regulated chemical manufacturing facilities.
