Annapolis, MD (On-site)The Assembly Manager will be responsible for managing a team of hand assemblers in a high-mix production environment with shifting priorities and resources. You will develop and implement innovative processes for cutting edge technology and manufacturing procedures for approximately 2-3 new products per month. You are also responsible for the continuous improvement of production processes, documentation, workflow, and equipment to improve quality and production throughput.
Responsibilities- Develop specifications for equipment and facilities to allow for two electronics assembler shifts
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule production timelines
- Manage a diverse team of Electronics Assemblers
- Collaborate with Design Engineers on designs to improve manufacturability
- Identify waste and non-value-added activities; improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions
- Perform time studies, bottleneck analysis, capacity assessments and ergonomic evaluations
- Design and optimize factory layouts using DraftSight or AutoCAD to enhance production flow
- Provide technical leadership for team of Assemblers in the areas of IPC and J-STD
- Create and maintain process flow diagrams, and standard work documentation
- Analyze production workflows, facility layouts, workspace organization, and equipment utilization to improve efficiency and productivity
- Develop, maintain, and optimize labor standards, routings, and work instructions.
- Responsible for Continuous Product Manufacturability Improvements including Corrective Action and Six-Sigma and/or other problem-solving methodologies in a manufacturing environment
- Write, Evaluate and Control process control production procedures for production assembly to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 specifications, as well as maintain Assembly Libraries
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements - Bachelors or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
- At least one year of managerial experience
- At least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience writing and following manufacturing documentation and procedures
- Able to read and understand engineering bill of materials and drawings
- Familiarity with ERP Systems or databases
- Familiarity with quality systems
- Available to occasionally work overtime or on the weekends when necessary
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Technical Background- Experience with production tracking software
- Experience with Quality Management Systems, specifically AS9100 or ISO 9001
- Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
In compliance with local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $110,00/yr to $140,000/yr; however, Annapolis Micro Systems considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
