This is a full-time, exempt position.

Position Summary
As an Area Sales Manager, you will lead a team of talented sales professionals who are responsible for earning the right to do business with producer customers. These long-term relationships help secure supply chains critical to feeding the world's growing population, improving diets, and decarbonizing the environment through regenerative ag practices. With the direction of your Regional Sales Manager, you will have responsibility for a large sales territory, overseeing the origination activities for ADM's Evansville & Silver Grove business.

You might be the right candidate if you have experience with leading a sales team, and background in the agricultural industry around production agriculture and its interconnected markets. Your skill set should encompass collaborating seamlessly with both direct and indirect stakeholders, building and leading a team of sales professionals to achieve desired results, and playing a pivotal role in serving producers while they navigate the intricacies of regen ag programs and marketing decisions.

We're looking for highly passionate candidates who have relentless curiosity, a fresh start-up mentality, and desire to make a meaningful impact in the ag industry. Your attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities will be crucial for success in an environment where ambiguity and change happen often.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and support farm direct grain origination, strategy, and growth with a team of sales personnel while staying in lock step with operational and commercial business partners including regenerative ag and fertilizer
  • Become a trusted advisor by establishing positive relationships based on your ability to uncover customer needs and dedication to delivering value
  • Develop customer acuity to understand each customer's footprint, strategic growth plans, technology strategy and the competitive landscape
  • Learn and develop the region's unique origination footprint, strategic goals, technological plans, and ever-evolving competitive landscape.
  • Develop market opinion to help inform team members and customers of market opportunities
  • Implement consistent prospecting and pipeline development plans of each team member tailored to their individual territories
  • Evaluate and manage the strengths and weaknesses of your team through uplifting coaching, mentoring, and strategic staffing
  • Provide and encourage leadership and education of grain and related markets to sales team members and other ADM stakeholders
  • Collaborate with commercial partners on asset specific goals and ensure alignment
Who We're Looking For:
Preferred
  • 7+ years sales experience
  • Demonstrate capacity to evaluate and manage risk, along with an understanding of how to lead and conduct professional sales calls with customers and prospects
  • Dedication to be a positive & professional team leader
  • Ability to function as a leader to coach, mentor, and develop sales staff with strong collaboration across other job functions
  • Self-starter who will communicate area's for the business to improve internally and externally
  • Strong analytical abilities, initiative and problem-solving skills necessary to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as ability to interface with various levels within ADM
  • Basic understanding of grain markets, grain contracting methods, related ag markets and offerings, production agriculture and the application of those to the producer
Minimum
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook and Teams
  • Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology
  • Dedication to utilize technology applications that are critical to sales activities
  • Commitment to own the use of Salesforce to track customer interactions and capture critical business information
  • Commitment to territory planning, development and efficient execution
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Early adopter of new technology and ability to lead and influence other target users
  • Bachelor's Degree required

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
